NRA doubles down: New gun laws won't work

(CNN) - The National Rifle Association made clear Sunday it will not budge on its opposition to any new gun laws, despite heated criticism of the organization's response to the Connecticut school massacre.

"I know this town wants to argue about gun control," NRA Vice President Wayne LaPierre told NBC's "Meet the Press" in Washington. "I don't think it will work."

I hope that he gets grilled. More guns aren't the answer. His idea that the shooter/killer that killed all those kids in CT wouldn't have been stopped by someone else with a gun necessarily. If the doors had been bullet proofed, then there would have been more of a chance. The idea that more guns held by good guys will stop guns held by bad guys is a false arguement because we don't know if both are aware of the other's intent, training, and nerves/courage of each.

NRA needs to shut up. We need to pass GUN-CONTROL LAW. Period. It is NOT 3rd century nor 312 BC.

Leave it to the NRA to make the solution more guns. By that logic, as Candy Crowley said, we should have armed guards in theaters, malls, and anywhere people gather. Their position tells me that the NRA is nothing more than a mouthpiece for gun manufacturers who are using this latest incident to push for even more gun sales, which I find absolutely appalling. They have no shame.

Your dreaming if you think you'll get ANSWERS from this man.....you will get responses, you will get excuses and deflections. NOT RESPONSIBLE or ACCOUNTABLE is all you hear from the NRA. They repeat that over and over until some even believe it. How else can they keep putting their collective heads in the sand. Denial, delusion, and distraction are their weapons now and only the focus and determination of a nation of voters united in memories of the unnecessary loss of innocent lives will change a DAMN thing. Keep your guns, lose the weapons of mass destruction. Saddam Hussain had nothing....the NRA clearly has it's fingers all over these!!!!

There is no need of begging NRA to take action on guns. The Association does not make any law. The only people to be pressurised are lawmakers. They were elected to tackle problems of the nation. If people will seriously demand actions to be taken, lawmakers will act accordingly and NRA will abide to the law.

The NRA is not here to have any type of conversation on violence in America. The NRA is here to sell guns. That is what they do. That is how they get paid and they don't care if your sons or daughters are murdered in the process. The best way to sell guns. Put fear into the people. Fear is a wonderful tool and the NRA is very good at it. It has been doing it for years which is how America got to this position. The benefit for LaPirre is that he makes makes over $900,000 per year and he likes that. Of course gun control works. Look at Canada, England, Germany, Australia. You can have gun control and still own and enjoy your rifles and shotguns and hand guns, but assault weapons and 30 round clips have got to go and putting guns in school is not the way to go . The NRA likes it. Why? Because it sells more guns and LaPierre keeps his job.

By David Gregory? Not going to happen.

It's time to stop arguing with the folks who spout NRA talking points and keep our legislators focused on gun safety. The NRA is a gun lobbyist. It's days of protecting regular Americans and teaching gun safety is long over. Listen to the nonsense their gullible parrots are repeating. These folks have become nothing more than a mouthpiece for gun manufacturers whose number one goal is to sell more guns, not less and safety be damned.

Just another group whose sole interest is in making money! FORGET new laws, they have "bought & back" politicans to vote on anything THEY want! The NRA is a pathitic, not interested in human life, company, and they hold some of the responsibility for all these tragedies! They PERVERT & use the 2nd amendment as their EXCUSE, and the vast majority of their members blindly follow their "rules & regulations" This is our "modern" nation, yet it appears we are heading back to the wild west.

While some sort of updated gun control law is necessary, it will not prevent future school massacres; it will only change the methodology. We are facing a true "ounce of prevention" situation, and there are several practical and effective options. While there are a wide variety of mental and emotional illnesses, and many can lead to violence, the profile of a school shooter can be fairly well defined. Maybe one person in a thousand has some potential to become a shooter. If we identify that one early enough we can influence them enough to keep them from going over the edge.

NRA Vice President Wayne LaPierre is saying the only way to change gun laws is by using a gun ?

When our second amendment takes away our right to reason over sanity and safety , it might be time to take a look at the meaning of freedom . The freedom to live in a would without guns !

Executive Doomsday Order: Obama Authorizes Gov to Seize Farms, Food, Processing Plants, Energy Resources, Transportation, Skilled Laborers During National Emergency. This may be the reason preppers need to have assault weapons to protect their food supply from hungry people and confiscation by the government. They will only leave you a 3 day supply of food then what? This is my theory.

See how far down the list you have to go by districts and their violence before you find one that didn't go for president Obama. You'll be out of the top 100 before you find a NRA\TEA party district.

Democrats and their districts have an overwhelming amount of violence, hate, intolerance, etc.

Here in Texas many of the far-right-wingers consider the 2nd Amendment a mechanism to ensure the civilian population a mechanism for revolt against the federal government – tools for traitors. They consider military weapons a means of leveling the playing field against the Soldiers and Law Enforcement Officers of the United States. Many businesses owned by right-wing secessionists now fly the Texas flag rather than the American flag. As the question is repeatedly asked regarding the civilian need for high-capacity magazines the true answer is often withheld. The extremists feel THEY are entitled to decide when our democratic government becomes "oppressive" and when to apply significant military firepower to overthrow that government. Wouldn't that be a definition of domestic terrorism? Did our Founding Fathers choose to provide extremists the means for acts of sedition and treason? This should be openly debated in our Congress as they consider reasonable controls for gun capability and distribution.

First off my heart is sad for the lost children and there families along with the loss of there mentors. I do not own any guns because my son told the school that he could brake into my gun cabinet if he wanted to so I took the stance of getting ride of my guns. this caused me to stop hunting which I had done for a long time and enjoyed. My son is not sable, he has a very high IQ. This is very pain full for me to say this but if so many people are going to yell there opions lets stop and look at what we are asking leaders to do. First protect our children so does that mean we are going to deligate all of our duties as parents to the government or just this, seconded this is the same group of people that alowed the latest economic down turn and the bankrupted us to dig the banks out, third the 2 sides can not even talk to each other. I hope everyone can add at least 1 more thing that our goverment can not do, and yet we want them to legislate something about gun control that works. insanity

    ******
What are you talking about? That is not a theory, it is bunk and you know it.
Tell us, in the past four years, exactly what has President Obama done, or even talked about, anything even close
to advocating gun control, threatened in any way to "take away our guns" or repealing the 2nd Amendment.
You can't. Until the massacre of these precious children and their teachers, very little has been said.

JChan and Wayne La Pierre are both crazy- and that is the problem with an association built around deadly weapons. They are making the likelihood of gun siezure laws evermore likely by their insanity. More guns solves nothing.
