Washington (CNN) - President Barack Obama and congressional leaders will discuss the looming fiscal cliff impasse Friday at the White House, spokespeople for the president and House Speaker John Boehner said.
The meeting will come days before the deadline to reach a deal that would prevent automatic tax increases and spending cuts, and after another day of Republicans and Democrats blaming each other for the stalemate.
the president is ready how about the repos????
Where are the House members, most especially the Tea Party members? Someone needs to tell Boehner that he has been the worst House Speaker since The New Deal, and maybe of all time. He leads a "do nothing" House that wears that epithet has a badge of honor. Doesn't Boehner realize that he's not going to be Speaker again, no matter what sort of deal he strikes at this time?
The House has ALREADY passed a bill to extend all the current tax rates. It is sitting in the Senate unacted upon by the Do Nothing Harry Reid. Democrats are holding the American people and the economy hostage to their far left ideology. Raising tax rates on the upper income levels solves no problems. It is purely ideology driven. Class warfare at the expense of the economy and country. Despicable.
I'm sorry but they should have not even taken the time to leave the area. Everyone in DC is responsible for this coming to the very edge and they should have been in the offices working on this not strolling around the country. The fact that the Congress is on break is appauling.

The devil is in the details. The House basically passed a bill that is the equivalent of the fiscal cliff with one major difference. They shifted all of the sequestered defense cuts over to discretionary spending. They passed a bill that is significantly more uncompromising than the original sequestration bill, which is why Sen. Reid declared it dead before they wasted their time voting on it.
For those keeping score: It's a game 100% in favor of raising taxes. The two teams playing the game are worried though. They want to make sure that any blame is placed on the other team. The public, wants a deal they can live with and prosper. The players on the teams don't really care if the populace loses it all, as long as they have three chances to eat prime rib daily, they don't really care if you have corn meal mush. for those too stupid to recognize this, wake up.
The Democratic agenda is punish the successful and reward the failures.
The "new American way".
