Boehner's White House F-bomb

(CNN) - For all the stalemate in the fiscal cliff negotiations, there were some heated moments, too.

A Democratic source familiar with one particular exchange told CNN that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell were sitting on a sofa in the White House.

House Speaker John Boehner breezed in and his first words to Reid were "Go f*** yourself."

Boehner's comment came after Reid took to the Senate floor on Thursday and characterized the House speaker's handling of his chamber as a "dictatorship."

Reid responded to Boehner's confrontational tone by laughing, the Democratic source said, though a GOP source who was there said he didn't think Reid was all that happy.

"The exchange continued, and it didn't get any better for Reid," the GOP source said.

Boehner's office had no comment on the exchange when asked about it Wednesday.

Both men described the moment to members of their caucus.

The exchange happened at the White House on Friday - the day the four Capitol Hill leaders, including House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi - met with President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, and Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner.

On Wednesday, after news of the comment emerged, Reid said on the Senate floor that "unlike others behind us in this Capitol, I'm not going to stoop to name calling. I just want people to work and do what they need to do." Politico first reported Boehner's comment.

Hours after the meeting on Friday, he described it as "constructive."

"There was not a lot of hilarity in the meeting, everyone knows how important it is," Reid said. "It was a very serious meeting and it took an extended period of time."

Not good. If he's willing to speak like that to Sen. Reid, then I begin to see why Boehner's unwilling to speak with Pres. Obama.

Someone should have taken a poll to see if the public wants Boehner back as Speaker of the House.

Boehner is too emotional to be in his current position. Why am I not surprised at his ungentlemanly foul mouth?

Not to worry, he will fold like a napkin and apologize for it. Nobody ever sticks to their principles anymore.

This is what Republicans have said to America's working class for years.

That's gratitude for you. Speaker Boehner should be thankful the Democrats saved his butt. His leadership is a failure since he got more Democratic votes than Republican. Why is he still Speaker of the House?

Let us see here....Reid falsely accuses Romney of not paying income taxes for 10 years, which was an outright lie, but that was ok. Reid calls Boehner a dictator and other names and that is ok. Reid has sat on his butt for 3 years doing nothing to help this country-no budgets, no tax plans, no spending cuts, nothing and he is a hero. Don't blame Boehner one bit for saying what he did. Sometimes you got to stand your ground against the bully. Apparently with some people Reid is their shining example of moral character and proper behavior.

Boehner's leadership leaves a lot to talk about. Now his maturity is in question too. If he gets upset he uses the f- word or cries. What a classy leader he is.

and THIS is news? I bet the "F" bomb flies across DC more everyday than probably any other venue. In fact I was thinking quite often myself watching these morons trying to avert the so-called cliff.

Are you SERIOUSLY equating someone saying something is a big F-ing deal to someone telling someone to go F themselves? Really? REALLY???!!! It's false equivalencies like your's that are driving thinking Americans away from the rethug party. On second thought, keep up the good work!

Is this CNN or the National Enquirer? A "Democratic source" said Boehner used the F bomb. A "GOP Source" said it didn't get any better for Reid. This is news? Come on CNN, you're better than this.

Yes Lagos, because it's all about the words, not the intent behind them. I curse and so do my coworkers. But we do NOT curse like that at each other. That's hostile, uncalled for, and completely unprofessional. In the private sector people are fired for that. Grow up.

Spot on, Mr. Boehner! It is a disgrace how the media has portrayed this crisis as all the Republican's fault when the House under Boehner's leadership had passed TWO previous budget bills that were refused by the Dems! The "failure of leadership" lies with Reid and Obama for their persistent political wrangling, putting their politics above the needs of the America people!

"House Speaker John Boehner breezed in and his first words to Reid were "Go f*** yourself."

    Oops, Mr. Boehner. Naughty, naughty.

Too much TeaParty exposure, yes? Ah, well. Not to worry.

Every year going forward will see less and less of TeaPer obstruction.

Really? Really? This is what we care about? Who cares if he he told Reid to "Go F*** yourself", after Reid called him a dictator on the senate floor! This is not news, this is to try a paint a politician as someone bad. If someone called me a dictator in public, I would say the same thing.

Here is another question, do those that make comments on here like "Boehner is saying that to the middle class", do you people even read articles or just comment on what you think you read? He (Boehner) did not say those words in reference to the plans for taxes or the discussion at hand. Read the article agian, or read my first couple of lines.

Now, can we stop focusing on this type of news and move on!! There are more important things to concern ourselves with than this!!

yes why is he still speaker ?? He's a coward who will cry over a hurt bird but send the whole country to hell to protect the crooks that pay him off. He's spineless. He's a traitor. What do they do to traitors anyway, when a country is at war?

    And he is insipid.
