Boehner's White House F-bomb

(CNN) - For all the stalemate in the fiscal cliff negotiations, there were some heated moments, too.

A Democratic source familiar with one particular exchange told CNN that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell were sitting on a sofa in the White House.

House Speaker John Boehner breezed in and his first words to Reid were "Go f*** yourself."

Boehner's comment came after Reid took to the Senate floor on Thursday and characterized the House speaker's handling of his chamber as a "dictatorship."

Reid responded to Boehner's confrontational tone by laughing, the Democratic source said, though a GOP source who was there said he didn't think Reid was all that happy.

"The exchange continued, and it didn't get any better for Reid," the GOP source said.

Boehner's office had no comment on the exchange when asked about it Wednesday.

Both men described the moment to members of their caucus.

The exchange happened at the White House on Friday - the day the four Capitol Hill leaders, including House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi - met with President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, and Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner.

On Wednesday, after news of the comment emerged, Reid said on the Senate floor that "unlike others behind us in this Capitol, I'm not going to stoop to name calling. I just want people to work and do what they need to do." Politico first reported Boehner's comment.

Hours after the meeting on Friday, he described it as "constructive."

"There was not a lot of hilarity in the meeting, everyone knows how important it is," Reid said. "It was a very serious meeting and it took an extended period of time."

What makes the House Republicans a laughing stock is the fact they continue to follow this orange faced crybaby. He's just an awful, awful "leader". So much for Republicans trying to change their "brand", lol.

I feel sorry for the GOP

    1. They have no true leaders
    2. They are wandering around like mad men
    3. They are behind the times by atleast 30 years

Their best bet is Clint EASTWOOD talking to a chair – albeit the last time around the chair WON the debate

The GOP needs to "go FIND themselves"

@Sydney, perhaps you should do some research, too. Much of our deficit was generated by the two unfunded wars started under Bush II. If you look at the stats, governmental spending has gone DOWN under Obama. In fact, Republican presidents have outspent Democrat presidents in all of the past 8 or 10 presidencies. "Tax and Spend Democrats" is now a fallacy and it is being perpetuated by the GOP, which really needs a reality check.

Boehner and the house GOP over the last year have dedicated their time to passing bills that were doomed from the very beginning. Knowing the Senate and the President would not even consider their ridiculous legislation, they forged ahead passing the bills any way. When asked to do something that the American people wanted and was good for the country, Boehner's response was to curse his opposition. I would say to Mr. Boehner, "Do the peoples business or go home. The time for games is over. We need action on the nation's business–Do it or go home."

Give Cryin' John a break. Remember, he grew up in a bar, and worked as a bartender long enough to develop a somewhat colorful dialog. As for those who referred to him as Tan Man, I would say it's more like an orangish hue.

Boehner was and is trash. Trash taken out of a bar and put into a fancy suit to lie, cheat and steal from the American taxpayers. He will never be taken seriously and neither will his party. Reid was totally correct to ignore the gutter trash and carry on with the Nation's business.

Good for you,Boehner, Thanks for saying what my friends and I would like to say to Reid on a daily basis. I hope the Republicans start acting the way the Dems are always accusing them of doing. I am tired of the Democrats saying things and getting a pass from the media, but when a Republican says something there is outrage from the media.

It can't be too much of a dictatorship, because Boehner's own party members laugh at his commands.

The teapublicans don't care about the lower class, lie to the middle class, can't make it to the upper class. In other words, they have no class.

I am not surprised that Boehner stooped to that level. The Republicans are not dissimilar from farm yard chickens right now. They are running scared every which way. They have no real leadership and America is seriously fed up with them as evidence by the rump kicking they have received in BOTH of the last two Presidential elections. Americans during this last election were willing to still (why is beyond me) allow republicans to maintain one house in the hopes that they would learn to COMPROMISE with the party America clearly wants in power, the Democrats. They failed to do that in the Fiscal cliff negotiations and we again came down to the wire to avert a real catastrophe.
In the next elections I have a strong feeling that Americans are going to tellt he Republicans across the board, to in the words of the Republican's own leadership "Go F yourselves" and rightly vote as many out as is possible.
