Boehner's White House F-bomb

(CNN) - For all the stalemate in the fiscal cliff negotiations, there were some heated moments, too.

A Democratic source familiar with one particular exchange told CNN that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell were sitting on a sofa in the White House.

House Speaker John Boehner breezed in and his first words to Reid were "Go f*** yourself."

Boehner's comment came after Reid took to the Senate floor on Thursday and characterized the House speaker's handling of his chamber as a "dictatorship."

Reid responded to Boehner's confrontational tone by laughing, the Democratic source said, though a GOP source who was there said he didn't think Reid was all that happy.

"The exchange continued, and it didn't get any better for Reid," the GOP source said.

Boehner's office had no comment on the exchange when asked about it Wednesday.

Both men described the moment to members of their caucus.

The exchange happened at the White House on Friday - the day the four Capitol Hill leaders, including House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi - met with President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, and Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner.

On Wednesday, after news of the comment emerged, Reid said on the Senate floor that "unlike others behind us in this Capitol, I'm not going to stoop to name calling. I just want people to work and do what they need to do." Politico first reported Boehner's comment.

Hours after the meeting on Friday, he described it as "constructive."

"There was not a lot of hilarity in the meeting, everyone knows how important it is," Reid said. "It was a very serious meeting and it took an extended period of time."

Without a doubt, Boehner's comment was probably better than what he was actually thinking. Seriously, I'm sure comments like these are said more often, but not reported. Why do you think they have doors in Washington?

I would like to hear a recording of Grover Norquest making threats against any GOP member of Congress he felt might disobey his commands....Many have hinted those conversations were quite "Colorful" with the language....

Boehner is a humorless, stiff, "Joe Friday" man who has no place in modern politics. I'm glad that the "party of 'no'" was forced to say "yes" for once. Their ongoing obstrctionistic behavior suggests no learning curve from the recent election. It's so wonderful that I don't have to hear the words, "President Romney".

And the country is cursing out these politicians and certain special interests groups....
What gets me, is that these politicians are being paid handsomely, with full benefits, while the rest of us work ourselves to death.
    Not fair.

Meki60 "Obama's whole effort to date has been a dicatorship." Really? It seems to me that Obama hasn't been able to get more done because of the "party of 'no'". You republicans kill me. You just can't accept reality. The majority of Americans support Obama as evidenced by his landslide win. Meki60, you really didn't want taxes to go up for the rich so they have to pay what the rest of us pay? I'm assuming you're a millionaire?

I am glad that they printed the list of those who voted no. Everyone print out a copy to be sure that you vote out all the obstructionist.Sarah Palin really dumbed down the republican party.

    @Meki60

Obama's whole effort to date has been a dicatorship.
================================================================================================ It's easy to see you watch Fox News. They use the "dictator" sound bite but of course have absolutely nothing to back it up – nor do you. President Obama faced a Republican Party who openly planned to obstruct all efforts towards recovery from the recession THE REPUBLICANS CAUSED! Republicans in the Senate filibuster every action, culminating with Mitch McConnell's filibuster of his own bill! That's the first time in history a Senator blocked a proposal he himself just proposed. Republicans in the House never, ever sent a clean bill to the Senate – using every bill to make political statements about "personhood" or trying to kill the AHC law to please their Tea Party backers. These are facts – not mindless soundbites from Fox News.

If you want to see a "dictator" you might review the work of the "Decider" President – Mr. "Mission Accomplished".

Cursing shows a lack of intelligence. People resort to it when their feeble brain can't find a better word.

Hey, Larry. Rudy NYC had a fantastic comment over the weekend on this dictatorship stuff. Maybe we can convince him to re-post his comment to me. It was hilarious.

"And moments later after dropping the f bomb, Mr. Boehner wept profusely", the GOP source added, when off the record.

I think we don't need to know this stuff. Lord knows politicians have to keep their masks on every second they're in the public view. If I was doing that job I'd probably have had some choice words for my opponents behind the scenes as well.

Good god, we live in the Jerry Springer era. They're PEOPLE!!! They can get mad too, just like us!

While it is true Obama could have done better, it also holds that we have a dictator in the House of Reps. John Boehner Has become a thorn in the side of the House. He thinks his word is law and those who don't agree, well Katie Bar the DOOR. Our problem is John Boehner. Maybe his sun lamp has taken its toll.

Small minds end up having to use the F-word. Mr Boehner needs to grow up and start behaving responsibly for the good of all, and not just his caucus.
