Atlanta pastor, Evers' widow named to speak at inauguration

(CNN) – An Atlanta pastor and the widow of slain civil rights leader Medgar Evers will deliver the invocation and benediction at President Barack Obama's inauguration January 21, two inauguration officials confirmed to CNN Tuesday.

Louie Giglio, a pastor and the leader of the Passion Movement, was chosen because he's a "powerful voice for ending human trafficking and global sex slavery" and due to his work in mobilizing young people for that effort, said one of the sources.

Congratulations Mrs. Evers. I would like to say thank you for all you and your late husband did for the Civil Rights movement. Without your help and many, many others, I don't know where I would be today. Your husband gave his life so people like myself could have the rights we have now. God bless you and your family Mrs. Evers. Good luck in any and everything you do.

Congratulations Mrs. Evers. What an honor and how befitting. Your husband was killed in your driveway by racists intent on keeping Blacks from obtaining and participating in all the freedoms and priviledges bestowed on the citizens of this great nation. It will be an emotional moment for many to see you up on that podium next to America's first African-American president RE-elected by citizens of ALL colors and backgrounds!
    God IS great.
