....And the Republican reason for filibustering this nomination will be...?
9% approval rate and falling. Do the math GOP, you cannot win the game of obstruction and hope to win elections.

As I recall, he has some history in dealing with the Treasury and finance. It sounds like a good choice only knowing that at the moment.

For all you Democrats who vilified Romney, you should look closely at this guy's background at Citicorp. He was head of the hedge fund that bet that the housing market would collapse. Great guy to have in charge of our money!

They don't need a reason. President Obama has nominated Mr. Lew – end of story. It is quite sad actually. The Republicans claim government does not work and yet they do everything in their power to assure that outcome AND collect a salary, pensions, and healthcare. Must be nice. I'd like to know when the so-called "main stream media" will call them out on their obstruction and hypocrisy instead of just parroting every nonsensical thing Republicans regurgitate.

The White House seems to love feeding the sharks something to get themselves all up in harms, in a frenzy. They like allowing Repubilcans to show their stripes. The White House certainly isn't making them say and do the self-defeating stuff.

    @ Joi Gibson
The obstruction you talk of happens every time there are opposite parties in power with House and WH. They media won't call them out because the dem's would do the same thing. You can thank our happy USA govt for that!

    Joi-

Quite so. The GOP has pivoted from "loyal opposition" to American Taliban. We should treat them as such.

    American citizens –

By now, you`ve got to be able to see that the GOP is FOS.

The ONLY WAY to fix them and give America the benefits of two robust intellectually thorough parties is to throw thw Republicans completely out of office in 2014 & 2016. Recall that they lost the Presidency in 2012, lost seats in the House of Representatives and lost seats in an already Democratic Senate and THEY STILL want to pretend that the American people are behind them. WE ARE NOT. Stop cutting the GOP a break.

They will lie, cheat, steal, backstab to get into office and this will not change. Just look at Scott Walker`s modus operandi. Just listen to Dick Armey

Maybe so, but it is conservatives who keep coming up with the damning quotes.

"Deficits don't matter." Dick Cheney on the Bush Tax Cuts
"It will last two weeks." Dick Morris on the Iraq War.
"These cuts will be temporary." George W. Bush on his legacy
"..one term president..." Mitch McConnell on Pres. Obama
"..47%..." The Real Romney behind closed doors
