(CNN) – In another sign that Paul Ryan may be eyeing a run at the White House in 2016, the Conservative Political Action Conference announced Friday that he has agreed to address the conference this March.
"We are pleased to announce that Congressman Paul Ryan will be a featured speaker at CPAC 2013," said American Conservative Union Chairman Al Cardenas. "From the day he was elected, Chairman Ryan has been a strong voice in Congress for pro-growth, free market economic policies and has always been a CPAC favorite."
The Wisconsin congressman and former Republican vice presidential nominee is the first high profile speaker to be confirmed by the group.
CPAC is the largest gathering of conservative leaders and activists, and it has launched the presidential campaigns of many Republican candidates. The annual CPAC straw poll is considered a broad barometer of the conservative movement, especially as a vote on possible presidential candidates.
Other prominent Republicans invited to speak –but not yet confirmed– include Sen. Marco Rubio, former Gov. Jeb Bush, Gov. Susana Martinez, Sen. Ted Cruz, former Sen. Jim DeMint, Sen. Tim Scott, and former Rep. Ron Paul.
The conference, which turns 40 this year, will be held from March 14-16 at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in Washington.
"In another sign that Paul Ryan may be eyeing a run at the White House in 2016", American's won't vote for this crazy, Not in a million years....................... I thought the 2012 GOP primary's were a Three Ring Circus lets see what 2016 brings us.
He'll be a GREAT nominee- he couldn't even carry his home state last year. Ha ha ha!
Please, please let him run. This guy couldn't deliver his state last year. He is part of the problem in the republican party. Go moderate or go home.
If there were a god I would be on my knees thanking him for this... I can't think of a better way to answer a prayer that the gop continue to flounder. Ryan is the face of the gop and that is all good and well for us liberals.
looking at the list of people speaking it sort of makes you sick. Repos have not changed their game plan at all and will continue the same stupid policies that caused them to loose the last election. Maybe they should try working with the American majority instead of crapping on them. Just plane sick of their utter contempt for the middle class.
Thanks to Citizens United, political "news" has now been completely and utterly overtaken by the MSM wanting to talk about the next POTUS election for 4 entire years, starting immediately following the election of the current POTUS. Advertising revenue rules what you hear from the MSM, not truth.
I think that ideologues that demand only policies that are "pro-growth" among other ideas don't fully understand that there are times where the market won't or can't correct itself and needs government to do that. If they want to government not to do things, then they need to have private charities and individuals take over those programs now.
Chalk 2016 election up for another Democrat victory. haha
I hope Ryan does run again. The Republicans will then...lose again.
The times and the demographic makeup of the nation are changing (for the better) and a Racially Pure Lilly White Conservative will never, ever win the White House.
Really great news for us Democrats!
I'd never support a supporter of Ayn Rand.
If the Republican are planning on Paul Ryan to run In 2016, than they are planning on losing again In 2016 because he will never win.
Good news if he runs.......because he'll lose BIG.
Yes, please do run and hopefully get the RNC nomination because he would def lose BIG again.
