Former New Orleans mayor indicted on federal corruption charges

(CNN) - Former New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin, who captured the drama of Hurricane Katrina in 2005 with an "SOS" call to the nation, was indicted Friday on 21 federal corruption charges, including bribery, money laundering, fraud and filing false tax returns.

Nagin allegedly defrauded the city through "a bribery and kickback scheme" in which he received checks, cash, wire transfers, personal services and free travel from businessmen seeking favorable treatment, the 25-page federal indictment says.

Could these people investigating the fed- level corruption please finish the investigation into GA 's governor, Nathon Deal?

That guy's as crooked as they come, and the state government will do nothing.

Well, IF he's guilty, he should be charged-but I know somehow this will be the president's fault.

The best comment I've heard so far; he wanted New Orleans to be a chocolate city. Now he'll be packin' fudge along with Sally Decker in Statesville prison.

Before the racial statements begin, this isn't a racial problem. It is a problem when you have no real second party alternative in our cities. If you are in the right party in, say, Chicago or Detroit, you'd have to be found standing over a body, with a smoking gun and the victim's last dying breath pointing out your guilt to a nationwide audience before you'd fear losing your office.

Sometimes they catch them AFTER they've left office but rarely while they are in office.

That guy was incomptent and it is not a shock that he is corrupt. No real surprise. He was in way over his head as a mayor. He will never get a day in prison since he is a liberal Obama supporter.

Couple facts CNN left out of the story. 1 Nagin is a DEMOCRAT, this fact is left out of most news sources reporting on this story. 2 Nagin shipped his family out of the city while he and the Gov completely mishandled the disaster. Nagin left a fleet of school busses never used to evacuate citizens untill they were flodded.

The media loves to blame Bush for the mishandling but a fair telling will eventually come out about the DEMOCRAT Gov and DEMOCRAT MAYOR Ray Nagin.

It is disgusting how the Administration of the black Obama would let black Democratic Party politiicians get away with criminal behavior like this. Thank God that Romney won the election and we can start getting justice. What? Obama won? Wait. That can't be right. Karl Rove said that Romney had it in the bag!!!!
