Washington (CNN) – Almost six weeks after the Connecticut shooting rampage that killed 20 first-graders, Sen. Dianne Feinstein on Thursday proposed a new federal ban on some assault rifles and semi-automatic weapons, as well as ammunition magazines that hold more than 10 rounds.
With assault rifles and semi-automatic rifles displayed on one side and police officers who support her proposal behind her, Feinstein said the goal is to "dry up the supply of these weapons over time."

I'm not sure I understand the point of having all these guns for her press conference, grandstand much?
If I paint my hunting rifle black, she'd lay it next to the AR and be scared to death of it.
Geez. Bought a box of 9mm at walmart. $15/ for 50 rounds. Unbelievable. I used to get it at $10 for 50 rounds. I blame Feinstein.

OOooohhooohooo, a mega-wealthy, living behind behind gated walls with a 24-hour-personal security team person is going to pick up a batch of inantimate objects and tell me and 80 million other law abiding gun owners that we're not worthy. She sounds just like Bloomberg, another mega-wealthy zealot who is more than happy injecting himself into all of your affairs so he can personally direct you on how to run your life.
This simply will not pass the House. So, how about you stop wasting time on garbage like this and focus on things that actually affect all Americans, like our runaway debt.
I wonder if she will be charged like Media company was for displaying prohibited weapons or is it the same case politicians can do anything they want but others will be charged
If there were rifles made to look like Paintball guns, would those be displayed also?

@Bob Caspar: Oops, too bad. Constitution strikes again. Any legislation MUST include a grandfathering, because the US Government is denied from creating Ex Post Facto laws expressly by Article 1. The US is built on a concept of liberty you can't comprehend. You'll have to emigrate to escape that.

These guns are used in less than 1% of gun crimes. Most gun crimes use handguns, and 2/3 of handguns already have 10 or fewer rounds.
The odds of this doing more than putting Dem Senators in por-guns states on the chopping block for 2014 if they support it is zero, since this could never pass the house.

Of course. When you want people to trade freedom for security, you have to show them scary-looking guns. The problem with giving away your freedom is you don't really become safer, you just face a different set of dangers.
America its basically like this: The elitists can have weapons and be protected by them, We The People cannot. Get it?

Enforce the laws that are already in place on those that would do evil. Don't try to take away the freedoms of law abiding citizens. Don't presume to impose what you think is best for me and my family after my having served this country for 24 years congresswoman.

This is just political grandstanding that will make some politicians and some on the left feel good about themselves while doing pretty much nothing to cut down on the number of murders in this country.
Let the facts speak for themselves. More people are murdered with hammers and clubs than with rifles of all sorts (including assault weapons). On the flip side bans, targeting assault rifles, leave semi-automatic pistols, the weapon most likely to be used in murder untouched. If the shooter at Sandyhook had been denied an assault weapon, he most likely would have just used pistols (Which he had) and probably would have killed a similar number of victims. Likewise, the proposed ban would leave weapons like the M1 Garand, America's Battle Rifle during WWII and Korea, perfectly legal despite the fact that it has a larger range and is more powerful than any assault weapon, and in trained hands can shoot up to 40-50 rounds a minute.
Here is my proposal. Lets work on getting rid of handguns. To my way of thinking they should be less protected under the 2nd Amendment than rifles and in regards to crime are a far more dangerous weapon.
