Skeptical congresswoman challenges Obama to skeet shooting match

(CNN) - It's about time for some bipartisan...skeet shooting?

Rep. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tennessee, joined a chorus of skeptics who questioned President Barack Obama's recent comments about his hobby of skeet shooting, a sport where participants fire shotguns to break airborne clay disks.

"If he is a skeet shooter, why have we not heard of this? Why have we not seen photos? Why hasn't he referenced this at any point in time?" Blackburn said Monday on CNN's "Erin Burnett OutFront."

"I tell you what I do think," she later added. "I think he should invite me to Camp David, and I'll go skeet shooting with him and I bet I'll beat him."

Obama said in an interview published Sunday by The New Republic that he won't ignore the concerns of hunters and sportsmen as his administration pushes for tighter gun laws. To illustrate his point, he added an anecdote about his previously unknown penchant for shooting.

"Up at Camp David, we do skeet shooting all the time," he said, responding to a question about whether he had ever fired a gun. He also added he has included guests on his skeet shooting outings.

Some found the comments puzzling and wondered why he hadn't mentioned his gun experience in the high-profile firearm debate over the past six weeks. The remarks especially fired up some conservative blogs and news outlets.

"We had this debate that is ongoing," Blackburn said. "You would have thought it would have been a point of reference."

When asked by Jessica Yellin, CNN's chief White House correspondent, how often the president goes skeet shooting, White House press secretary Jay Carney said earlier Monday that he doesn't know.

"He does go to Camp David with some regularity, but I'm not sure how often he's done that," Carney said during the daily press briefing.

Pressed further if there was a photograph of the president taking part in the sport, Carney said "There may be, but I haven't seen it."

"Why haven't we heard about it before?" Yellin continued.

"Because when he goes to Camp David, he goes to spend time with his family and friends and relax, not to produce photographs," Carney said.

Next the Repubs will demand pictures of President Obama using the toilet. How else will they be able to prove he "goes"and it's not just a lie?

The relevence in this is the current gun debate. For the prez to somehow equate the fact that he shoots skeet during this debate with no proof is ludicrous. He knows it, everyone knows it, but the media has his back and will let the comment stand.

For the rest of us, just try to return a product you claim you bought without proof of purchase.

Oh, I would just love to see the President outshoot her at the skeet or trap range. It would shut down this strain, especially if Faux news was invited along with CNN, MSNBC, CBS, and DisneyNews, sorry, I mean ABC.

So what if the President provides photos and others say it is true, You gop'ers will just say the photo's are fake and the people are lying. It;s in your DNA. You don't just dislike him, as a matter of fact, you hate him! So much hate will not let you think straight. Enjoy the next four years, I know I'm going to! I love the way he baits you then strings you along and then shows his reliable hand. See, that's what hate does. You can't even see it coming.

Obama should go skeet shooting with Dick Cheney.

The President has way too many important issues on his hand to deal with at this point in time than to go skeet shooting. You want to go skeet shooting? Well, call up your right wing friends Ted Nugent, Tom Head or Dick Cheyney. The latter can shoot real straight. Just remember to duck.

Another lie from the President. How have we come from the story of George Washington chopping down the cherry tree and nothing that he can not tell a lie, confessed.

Those who, support the president support his behaviors and his statist polices, as such you're an enemy of liberty.

    What?

Typical chic talk. So what if they have a skeet shoot together? Maybe the chic can shoot skeet and maybe not. So after she has had her session with Obama, I'll take her on in the field if that means so much for her. And she is thirty years younger than I.

I see a pretty funny charity event opportunity here. Let both sides of the aisle place some wagers payable to favorite charities of the participants.

Seriously, I suspect this would be a hoot.

    Just don't invite Dick Cheney.

Rep. Marsha Blackburn, don't you know this MAN is a serial liar?! HE lies, then has ti lie some more in order to try and cover his initial lies.

What's is most surprising is that after HE gets caught in HIS customary lies, HIS "Benders Forward" will do anything to cover up for HIM.

    May the Lord help América!

The GOP hatred for the President is just disgusting. If President Obama said that he goes to the bathroom everyday, the GOP/Tea folks would want photos

    mick actually wrote:

None of the rights in the Bill of Rights is absolute huh?
So I guess you're ok with repealing the right to free speech, women voting etc then?
    ------
No. nothing in the Bill of Rights is absolute, not even the 1st Amenedment. You cannot shout fire in a movie theater, nor can you freely distribute pornography to the kids in a playground. Not even your protection fro illegal search and seizure is absolute because a judge can order a wiretap or sign a search warrant to permit a search of your home.

Nothing in the Bill of Rights is absolute, not even the 2nd Amendment is absolute today because there existing limits have been added as weaponry has evolved. It is time for another Weapons Update to the 2nd Amendment. Most semi-automatic rifles use clever gimmicks to circumvent the former semi-automatic weapons ban that expired in 2004. That law prohibited weapons sold with scopes, but you could buy a scope in the after market.

Idoubt he will accept. A narcissist cannot bear the thought of not winning and the embarrassment. The only way he would probably accept is if the fix is in or if a non-disclosure form of the results if he loses is signed. And if he does lose, it will be Bush's fault for Rush's or Fox News, because nothing is ever his own fault.

I just fail to see ANY evidence that the president is lying. What I do see however, is a lot of conspiracy theorists and wackos who seem determined to villanize what is a reasonably rational person who just doesn't take things to the extremes that others do. I agree with the president. I've hunted and shot guns since I was little; handguns, rifles, shotguns, crossbows, longbows all of it. Are you all going to call me a liar too? Because there's no concievable way in your brains that someone who uses firearms could POSSIBLY be in favour of ANY gun laws?

Come on. Lets stop the polarized extremism and try to have a sane conversation just once.

How much longer do we have to suffer the GOP hate for President Obama? Is it too much to ask that all the GOP / Tea folks treat the President with respect and actually do something for the country instead of constantly rouse and stimulate their angry racist base?

Darn, I bet Blackburn missed the good ole' days when GWBush went on a testosterone rush and used Crawford for a political prop to look "manly". At the time, Mexican President Vicente Fox said Bush is a "windshield cowboy" and afraid of horses.

What can we expect from a man that was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize BEFORE he accomplished any peace. It is nice to be awarded those prestigous wall hangings and then be allowed to fill in the blanks. And the money, don't forget the money.
