(CNN) - Clint Eastwood isn't pleased with the job Congress is doing.
"It's almost like they don't give a damn," he said Friday in an interview with CNBC. "So if they don't give a damn, why do they expect anybody else to?"

And he's not the only one.
A CNN poll conducted last month found only 21% approved of how Congress is handling its job.
That survey was taken fresh on the heels of the fiscal cliff standoff, where bickering between the parties sent the U.S. over the so-called fiscal cliff, although only briefly.
Some would say conditions on Capitol Hill hasn't improved much since, especially as lawmakers find themselves in gridlock ahead of future financial battles, such as the sequester deadline next month and the debt limit by May.
Congress also has immigration and gun violence legislation in the pipeline, and a number of Cabinet nominations to consider.
But Eastwood, who endorsed GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney and drew attention for a rambling address at the Republican National Convention this summer, doesn't see progress in Washington.
"There's just a lot of people standing looking at one another and maybe it just appears that way to us who are outside of the beltway," Eastwood said. "Right now it's very disappointing. I just wish - the election's over, we should be moving ahead. And the leaders aren't stepping up."

He addressed 100 empty chairs, followed by 300+ empty chairs ...
Eastwood is well past his prime. He is an extremely wealthy man who lives in the Carmel area in California. No wonder he is a Republican. He's completely and utterly out of touch with what the world is these days. But in this case he is right. Congress is acting without any regard for the citizens of this country. Those men and women are supposed to be representing the districts that elected them, and in most cases they are doing nothing but lining their own pockets with the cash given to them by lobbyists. Republican or Democrat, it makes little difference. Each side spouts nonsense about whatever their party as dreamed up to be passionate about, but they are all just greedy immature sociopaths. The whole bunch of them should be thrown out. They can go live with their lobbyist buddies. Of course they don't give a darn about us. We aren't calling them to task for doing a bad job. The overall rating for Congress right now is somewhere in the teens. If they gave a damn they'd work to get that number up. They don't. I say take the fence down south of the border and put it up around Washington. We'll be a lot better off.
Rambling speech? It's obvious from one of the no-news networks that you haven't noticed the political satire of the empty chair? Kind of like you haven't noticed the the empty chair on the night of sept. 11th.
Seeing these left-winger comments....
...well, I hope you are happy with the Obama recovery. If you are, you will LOVE the subsequent collapse.
Clint Eastwood is one of the good guys. His empty chair skit may have been awkward, but that is pure trivia compared to the trouble that we will now endure.
Bush was bad. Obama has done all of the bad things of Bush and accelerated them..... but, of course, he did it with a much more polished, charismatic, MTV friendly, politically correct personality.
Enjoy your smug one liners
@ncgreybr – Such an intelligent comment. You prove that liberals truly care for everyone. Ha!
Hey Clint, just call it like it is. The GOP won't get the ball rolling and you supported them with your chair stunt. Please go back to acting and directing.
And we care about what Clint thinks because.........................????????????
As the article pointed out, only 21% approved of Congress doing its job. I fail to see the relevance of the degrading comments about a senile old man although he is quite accurate in pointing out the obvious. Learn about improv, maybe that's what Mr Eastwood did to make point.
Welcome to our world, Mr. Eastwood. Now remind me, who did you support for President? Whose party is in charge of Congress? Which party holds the record for filibusters?
Go back to being the "chair talker".
Ur Right Master Clint:-)
Geeze, he can't believe his republicans are failing? What can we expect from the empty chair guy?
Who cares what this washed up angry old man thinks? If he was that old coot down the street and not a "celebrity' there would be no news here. There isn't, in any case.
Mr. Eastwood keep doing what you know best and forget about politics. Please, do not embarrass yourself more than you already did with the chair show....
Mr Eastwood, Tom Selleck, Chuck Heston et al seem to forget that they owe their fantastic good fortune to their looks, and that their knee-jerk conservatism is a result of deep-seeded fears that any change in the status quo is a direct threat to their unjustified lionization.
I loved his dirty harry movies but you voteed for the party who does not care if people are home lesr or hungry i hope no one will see your movies again
Couldn't somebody find 534 empty chairs for Eastwood to address?
I guess the above posters are totally satisfied with Congress, unlike Clint Eastwood.
So who really cares what or who Clint Eastwood is upset with? Really! Eastwood himself is dealing with way more than just an empty chair! Remember, this guy talks to an empty chair! Last I knew that was a sign of significant mental issues!
Mr Easrtwood, you willing threw in your lot with the very party that has said NOTHING but NO to EVERY SINGLE piece of significant legislation to pass though either house of Congress over the last four years. This is the same party that proudly boasted of their intent to do NOTHING but oppose the current President at every turn, for no other reason but petty political spite. They have even gone so far as to oppose bills they themselves authored for no other reason than the President also saw fit to support them. Any success afforded the President, no matter how small, was to be opposed. These are the people you supported. You have little right to complain about their utter lack of accomplishment now. Please take a seat, I'm pretty sure there is an empty one for you somewhere.
And anyone cares what Clint Eastwood thinks? Why people put any weight behind what vapid Hollywood actors/actresses whether they be left or right amazes me. For pete's sake... open a magazine, read a newspaper, do some research, and decide for yourself where you stand on a particular issue. Don't wait for Clint Eastwood or Michael Moore to tell you.
the new communist agenda does not care about the old America.
He's got a reason to be angry. Republicans and Democrats... they're all playing on the same team. And the results aren't so good. The act as if they disagree, but when things are finally hammered out, they ultimately just serve the needs of their donors... and they're corporations, banks, military contractors, and drug companies.
All congress seems to care about are themselves. I wish they all could leave and let Each State take care of their own business. We have too many CHIEFS and not enough INDIANS!!!
I think Clint Eastwood is an idiot. Bet this comment makes it.
Oh they care about the constituents that paid for their elections, they just don't give a damn about the big picture.
