(CNN) - Clint Eastwood isn't pleased with the job Congress is doing.
"It's almost like they don't give a damn," he said Friday in an interview with CNBC. "So if they don't give a damn, why do they expect anybody else to?"

And he's not the only one.
A CNN poll conducted last month found only 21% approved of how Congress is handling its job.
That survey was taken fresh on the heels of the fiscal cliff standoff, where bickering between the parties sent the U.S. over the so-called fiscal cliff, although only briefly.
Some would say conditions on Capitol Hill hasn't improved much since, especially as lawmakers find themselves in gridlock ahead of future financial battles, such as the sequester deadline next month and the debt limit by May.
Congress also has immigration and gun violence legislation in the pipeline, and a number of Cabinet nominations to consider.
But Eastwood, who endorsed GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney and drew attention for a rambling address at the Republican National Convention this summer, doesn't see progress in Washington.
"There's just a lot of people standing looking at one another and maybe it just appears that way to us who are outside of the beltway," Eastwood said. "Right now it's very disappointing. I just wish - the election's over, we should be moving ahead. And the leaders aren't stepping up."

Yawn. Eastwood can join the 80% of Americans who don't like the job Congress is doing. Eastwood is a great actor and director. In politics, not so much.
Now he wants to complain about the GOP and us beginning to understand his stupidity.
We are all being held hostage by about 80-90 congressman and senators...who of course belong to the far right lunatic fringe....we have only to blame but ourselves due to a apocalyptic over reaction to Obama being elected....following a worldwide financial crisis. That crisis should have caused the delegitimization of the policies and philosophies of the very same people that were elected to the congress in 2010...,but yet by misinformation, fear mongering an lies they managed to persuade enough voters to elect the most right wing reincarnation of the John birch society. So our government is paralyzed as this tea party fringe uses their '15 minutes' of fake to ruin our country and keep us fom moving forward....vote these dangerous characters out and get reasonable intelligent candidates that are normal so independents will have a choice that is not between a democrat an a loon.
Mr. Eastwood's opinion carries more weight than those who haven't lived through the decades he has. With age comes wisdom.

Hey we already knew congress rating because a Cnn poll told us so. ( as if we the people did not know already!?)
You know what Gun legislation and Immigration legislation are important but why are they on the front burner and not avoiding the fiscal cliff and a budget that looks like something that might create jobs lower the budget deficit, QED long term debt. NB the priority order.
Will congress please get its priorities right, job creation, budget deficit reduction and debt , that done gun laws and immigration reform laws.
And OH by the way media, 90% of Americans at this time dont give two hoots about who may or may not run for President. The 10 % that do are house and senate members, the white house top members of government departments or agencies , state politicians and judges and media political punditry. The rest of us could not give a damn becuse we wont decide until we are faced with actual choices sometime in 2015.

when actors, jugglers, etc were just court jesters no one asked them for their opinions because they were under educated and without any basis to understand the real world. why would we now care about their opinions because they are super wealthy doing a job that does not enhance our world except to entertain some of the population and help their friends gain more wealth while the majority of the citizens of our country struggle to live a comfortable life. Who care what this court jester has to say? Hopefully no one with any sense.
He is so right about them not doing their job!!! Of course that is probably the only thing he & I agree on, other than I like his movies. He is a good actor.
So when are they gonna ask about who likes the way the Senate does their job? The Senate isn't worth pissin g on to put them out if their head was on fire.

The only thing they give a damn about is themselves; that means they jump on whatever bandwagon seems to be in popular favor at the moment. As soon as the polls indicate otherwise, they waffle, grow silent, then change horses. Congress is only a stage to act out whatever noise is loudest at the time. Most of them have no concept of a principle and wouldn't know one if it chased them down and bit them in the arse. How can one expect them to uphold the Constitution when they can't even uphold themselves?
Clint Eastwood just as he is about to go onstage at the RNC: "Hey. I got an idea. Put a chair beside the podium-I am going to AD LIB! Don't worry Romney. It'll be good!" Hey Clint! Next time, stick to a script. You suck at ad libbing!
Do any of these GOP congressmen want to do anything but begin their reelection campaigns for 2014? I doubt it.
Seems like Eastwood has more balls than ya`ll ever will. The only thing ya`ll will ever do is complain like little babies about an old man making a true statement. How sad!!
funny how some have become complacent or seem to have lowered their expectations in what we can expect from our federal government.. the reason I feel that guies like Eastwood get the media's attention is in the substance of their observations and in the underlying plea to get more done in Washington
