Palin urges Obama to express condolences for slain ex-Navy SEAL

(CNN) – Sarah Palin said she hopes President Barack Obama "pays his respects" to the slain former Navy SEAL Chris Kyle, who was killed at a shooting range by a fellow veteran on February 2.

In Dallas for the funeral, the former Alaska governor said she and her husband "find it sad to see that flags aren't flying at half staff for this American hero."

"We're surrounded today by American patriots here in Texas – by Chris' fellow veterans and active duty warriors," she wrote on Facebook Monday morning. "In honor of them, I hope our commander in chief pays his respects in some gesture of condolence for their comrade in arms who sacrificed so much to keep him and all of us safe."

Kyle, who was 38, served four combat tours in Iraq and received two Silver Stars, among other commendations. He left the Navy in 2009. He was most known for declaring himself the "most lethal sniper in U.S. history" with more than 150 sniper killings in Iraq, which he described as a record for any American.

"We may never know to what extent Chris kept us free or how many lives he saved by his brave actions in the line of fire. But his fellow warriors know how important he was," Palin wrote.

Shortly after his death, Palin wrote on Facebook that she had lost a friend. She explained that she and her husband, Todd, first met Kyle in Pella, Iowa, when he helped out with security for the premiere of "The Undefeated," a documentary about Palin that debuted in June 2011.

"Later we became friends with Chris when he was on 'Stars Earn Stripes' with Todd," she said, referring to the NBC reality show in which competitors took on missions based on military exercises.

"Chris was a wonderful man, a good friend, and a true American hero who loved our country and served honorably," she continued. "He was loved and admired by so many, and he will never be forgotten."

Surely Ms. Palin knows that every soldier is important. We mourn the loss of all these men and women who are killed during these "wars" in Iraq and Afghanistan. State governments usually order the flags flown at half staff for soldiers from their states. Each military members deserves that honor. For the President to single out one soldier would be unfair at this time.

Sarah Palin will continue to be in the news because media loves her controversial remarks.

I often wonder what life must be like for someone who is so desperate for attention that she would say and do ANYTHING in front of a camera, just to get people to pay attention to her pathetic, brainless and ultimately pointless life. With the IQ of a cockroach, she is exactly as appealing and endearing as one.

@ Wes... How did you come up with your numbers on that? If 'that's how most people feel about uhbama (sic)', then how in the world did he win the election... again? It cracks me up that all the crybaby republicant losers all rally around this insane woman who clings to her 15 minutes like a drowning man to a basketball. Alas, they will not run her again in any shape, form, or fashion, and the tea party will be a memory by the next election cycle.
Too bad... her and her ilk have been the major driving force behind independents voting for the Dems in droves.

Sarah, what about the soldiers who are dying daily protecting this country? Are they not as worthy of the same recognition and honor because they don't happen to be a friend of yours?

Please do the country a favor and fade into the obscurity we have put you in!

By all accounts Obama was MIA during Benghazi. Why that isn't an impeachable offense and front page of every publication escapes me. It flies in the face of his oath of office – if I was serving as an ambassador or in the military the message I would take from this is "watch your own back because Obama won't". If Bush had done something similar he would have been excoriated by the media for months on end.

She has made a whole lot a cash the last few years. I figure she would just stay in Alaska for that reason. She does not need the money or the bad sound bites.

Ya know.....Newt missed his chance. He should have gone after Sarah for his next conquest. Seems like both would attend a letter opening if it gets them in the news. Maybe they should start attending ribbon cuttings for convenience stores, or become spokespeople for Nutty Buddy.

Palin should apologize for dumbing down the nation and being a national embarrassment. She is the perfect example of why we need to prioritize education in America.

Why does CNN give print space to this loon? Also, the last time I checked there were 2 major political parties in this country. Why are all the networks giving air time to the Tea party tomorrow night after the State of the Union. I really don't think many of us can stand to listen to this bigoted hypocrite Rand Paul!

What about the flag flying half staff for all of the Americans soldiers? I am sick and tired of people like Palin using the sacrifices of our military members as political fodder.

Because Palin speaks, CNN actually posts something about the Chris Kyle Memorial. And you haters can only despise her more? Sheeple pleeze! He was a hero to those he protected as a sniper. He was a hero to those he helped with post combat issues. He was a hero to those Americans who value their 2nd amendment rights and responsibilities, for which he spoke up for. What the hell have you done? ... That's what I thought..
    Thank you Mrs Palin

All you folks who bash Palin whose never done anything to you or yours. She cares more about this country then you'll ever know. She's a patriotic American and a class act but none of you folks who laugh at her would ever admit to that because you can't praise what you don't know.

Its been in the WSJ and a few other good papers. Your right we are basically leaderless. He is absentee. He was derelict in his duty as Commander and Chief when we had people in harms way. Its an embarrassement. He refuses to lead or put forth a serious budget and so we are constantly having to revisit his failures. Obama put together the sequester and now he blames it on others. Bengazi was shameful but its just a sympton of the rest of his failed presidency.
