Palin urges Obama to express condolences for slain ex-Navy SEAL

(CNN) – Sarah Palin said she hopes President Barack Obama "pays his respects" to the slain former Navy SEAL Chris Kyle, who was killed at a shooting range by a fellow veteran on February 2.

In Dallas for the funeral, the former Alaska governor said she and her husband "find it sad to see that flags aren't flying at half staff for this American hero."

"We're surrounded today by American patriots here in Texas – by Chris' fellow veterans and active duty warriors," she wrote on Facebook Monday morning. "In honor of them, I hope our commander in chief pays his respects in some gesture of condolence for their comrade in arms who sacrificed so much to keep him and all of us safe."

Kyle, who was 38, served four combat tours in Iraq and received two Silver Stars, among other commendations. He left the Navy in 2009. He was most known for declaring himself the "most lethal sniper in U.S. history" with more than 150 sniper killings in Iraq, which he described as a record for any American.

"We may never know to what extent Chris kept us free or how many lives he saved by his brave actions in the line of fire. But his fellow warriors know how important he was," Palin wrote.

Shortly after his death, Palin wrote on Facebook that she had lost a friend. She explained that she and her husband, Todd, first met Kyle in Pella, Iowa, when he helped out with security for the premiere of "The Undefeated," a documentary about Palin that debuted in June 2011.

"Later we became friends with Chris when he was on 'Stars Earn Stripes' with Todd," she said, referring to the NBC reality show in which competitors took on missions based on military exercises.

"Chris was a wonderful man, a good friend, and a true American hero who loved our country and served honorably," she continued. "He was loved and admired by so many, and he will never be forgotten."

This woman will go to any length to get publicity. She should be ashamed to take advantage of the man's death for her own profit.

Sara Palin needs mind her own business and stop trying to tell the President of the United States what they outta do.
American hero soldiers die everyday. Why not just fly the flag at half staff all the time until these wars are over. Why just for her special friend?

Why are we still listening to this woman? She served half a term as governor of our fourth least populous state. While I agree with the sentiment, that an American soldier was murdered, and as a nation we should show respect for his service, politicizing this man's death and funeral to take a shot at the president is disgusting. Funerals shouldn't be used for personal attacks.

Palin wants Obama to mourn? I want Palin to go away. We don't always get what we want, now do we?! I think there is a song in there somewhere?

Why does the press continue to give her a forum from which to make foolish statements? There are much more important issues to report on.

The talent of blowing out a foe's brains from many yards away does not qualify as heroic behavior. A good marksmen...yes! If you have any doubts, look the definition up in the dictionary. According to the media and politicians, everybody is a hero. All you have to do is do the job you're hired to do and you're suddenly elevated to a lofty status. There's a not so hidden agenda to this sort of tinkering with language that few bother to notice.

    Hey FABTEST,

The flag was flown at half staff for Micheal Jackson and that was a joke. The flag is lowered to half staff not raised and you don't have a clue to either you are the joke. My whole family has served since the AR and you do get ti pick as to when the flag is flown at half staff.

Would someone tell that quitter Palin her 15 minutes of fame are long, long over? Shame on CNN for repeating her nonsense.

Who is this Sarah Palin person? Did she get 15 minutes of fame and does not realize the time is up? Or did the media not realize she is a no longer a story.
As far as the former Navy SEAL is concerned, he was no longer active, did not die in the line of fire. He did his job, a job without fanfare and he will be remembered for his service to the country, without fanfare.
The is no such thing as ex-Navy, the sea is always with you.

Lots of vets who would deserve the same treatment, all or none. Didn't this guy have some very unwisely chosen derogatory words for Iraqis in his book? Or Maybe Palin approves of the way he characterized Iraqis.

Hey Sarah....Hows that snarky, catty, immature and false (read that lies) series of B.S. you wrote in that not a best seller (we know) about Walt and Andrew workin for ya now? You called Andy "effite" (and you should know, you married one, he even sounds girly,) in a book of drivel that will be in The Library of Congress. To slander someone is worse than murder according to the Bible. You are now reduced to a laughing stock even in your own town, and remember...FOOLS and their money will soon part. Hit the rods baby (rail road tracks) back to Methswilla, you're done and you don't even register on the "Hot" scale.

Why does Sarah Palin think that President Obama is in office to serve her get rich schemes? Did Sarah Palin praise President Obama after the operation that got Osama bin Laden? Did Sarah Palin praise President Obama after his response to the Gabrielle Giffords shooting? Did Sarah Palin praise President Obama for his response to Hurricane Sandy? Has Sarah Palin ever praised President Obama for anything? Has Sarah Palin ever praised President Obama for taking the high road and refusal to stoop to her level? Of all the people in this country, why is it that Sarah Palin thinks President Obama should be concerned with what Sarah Palin thinks? It is quite obvious that what Sarah Palin thinks is no longer holding water. I guess she is not getting the memo.

Anything for attention. Not so long ago she was trying to get Obama to play basketball with her, and taunted him by trying to get him to go to the Mexico/Us border with her. She taunted him to say something public about her perception that people were picking on her daughter, (ie Letterman), and she'll say or do anything to try to link her name with his, although they have nothing in common in personality, judgment, or in quittership.

the vet is a decorated hero and has been in the news non stop since his murder and before. travon martin was in the news, got shot for beating the hell out of somebody, and good ole barrak had plenty to say about him. likened him to his phantom son, even. the left is so predictable (CNN) headline reads "Palin wants Obama to mourn". how about "Palin hopes Obama recognizes hero"...no, that wouldnt have enough of a leftist lean.

By the way I didn't hear that our wonderful President was there to honor this HERO must not have been time for a photo op was anyone there from the White House doubt it rather go and promote gun control when the US don't even come up in the top 25 Countries of death by guns but the liberal press and the gun takers will not say anything about that they will just continue to lie about if you remove the guns the deaths will go down that has already been proven a lie in itself.

Wake up America before you it's to late and we will start looking just like Germany before WWII then it will be to late.

Sadly, soldiers dies nearly every day and have for years. Palin's only interest in this one is to get her name back in the news. Mourning a soldier in private vs using the death of one for media exposure? I'll stick with the President.
