West Miami, Florida (CNN) - Sen. Marco Rubio's selection to speak right after the president's State of the Union address marks another milestone in the swift rise of the political star.
Rubio became Florida's speaker of the House at just 35, he pulled off an upset victory over Gov. Charlie Crist in the U.S. Senate race in 2010, he was seen prominently campaigning with GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney last year, and he is already talked about as a future contender for the presidency.

He won his race in Florida with only 48% of the vote.
He lied for years about his parents escaping Castro's Cuba. Actually, they left several years before Castro took power. They came to the United States for the economic opportunities that are here – just like all the Hispanic economic refugees that Marco works every day to help 'keep out'.
He was born in the U.S. while his parents only held 'temporary visas' – he is the prototype 'anchor baby'.
He walked away from a home he was buying in Florida when the value went 'underwater'.
He was a Mormon – then a Catholic – now he takes his family to a 'Southern Baptist' church.
Tales from his college days have him 'in the closet'.
This could go one of two ways, tonight. Either Rubio will shine and actually come out as the leading contender for 2016, or he will have jumped his shark by overextending in his official response, and manage to turn off enough of the party that they actually look to someone like Rand Paul. If that is the case, can I please order my tickets for Hillary's inauguration now?

What is his family's "status" after all? My grandfather on my fathers side, and my great grandmother on my fathers side both immigrated from Eastern Europe. My grandfather (the immigrant) married my grandmother (the daughter of an immigrant). Guess that makes me a second generation American once removed. But I digress. What I wanted to point out in this "who is better than whom battle of the genealogy" is that my family has no documentation proving that either my grandfather or my great grandmother ever became legal citizens. Thank goodness neither of them were deported.
