Video: John King explains the forced budget cuts

(CNN) - Webster defines "sequester" as to set apart, or segregate. In Washington, it's a fancy word for forced spending cuts – and an example of how political leaders in both parties are failing to do their most basic job, CNN Chief National Correspondent John King reports.

Yeah........from Obama's point of view, I'm sure. CNN is totally partisan, as a news organization.

You have to love the GOP. Their line tonight seems to go something like:"Obama spent more time with Tiger Woods than negotiating with Republicans". Ha. Now it might be a movie line(an Eastwood movie?), but someone needs to tell the GOP our government doesn't negotiate with terrorists.

Newt Gingrich explained it very well. Nothing that is traced to President Obama can pass the Republican Congress. They have created such a racist and hateful atmosphere the Republican politicians know their constituents expect obstructionism rather than solutions. It's like Soldiers in a closet fighting with hand grenades.

    Dear Mr King,
    a few points:-
    1) I believe that McConnel and Reid were already working along similar lines after failure of the gang of 6.
    2) Even if it was the Presidents suggestion he cannot legislate directly, he can hint and cajole that's all.
    3) The House on budget and spending matters leads and you forget to call the sequester by its proper name " The Budget Act..
Then remember it passed the House and Senate with significant majorities!!. At that point it ceases to be any single persons idea but one which the representatives of the people = House Reps and Senators saw as the solution.
The Republicans believed they would win in 2012 and failed and then immediately put forward a bill to cut the defense need in the budget act and transfer the balance of cuts needed elsewhere including entitlements, that bill never got on the floor of the Senate and a counter bill from the Senate sent to the House Boehner gave a horrible answer. We are going on holiday for 10 days... never mind budget reconcilation procedures, and that when we get back only 4 days to resolve differences.... QED its either the fiscal cliff or an extension if existing budgets till September as they have done before. Nothing they Republicans are doing helps any further economic recovery in fact the opposite.
    Regards,
    Hodgson.
