(CNNMoney) – Despite their initial, vehement protests, a growing number of Republican governors are giving their blessing to expanding Medicaid in their states. That opens the door for millions of poor Americans to enroll in government health care coverage, beginning in 2014.
Florida Governor Rick Scott on Wednesday became the latest to warm up to the expansion, which broadens coverage to adults with incomes below 138% of the poverty line. Medicaid rules vary from state to state, but many states (including Florida) do not currently cover most childless, non-disabled and non-elderly adults.

The republicans dont care about 47% of people obama does the republicans want the people to die because thats money taken from the rich people. Medicaid is good for the poor people not the rich. The republicans dont care.
Gov. Deal and other baggers are supposed to espouse "christian" values and "follow in Christ's footsteps"
Guess I must have missed the proverb that said His footsteps crossed to the other side of the street to bypass millions of the poor and sick.
Generally this is good news, and runs counter to the GOP's "we only love the rich" nonsense leadership.
And, if the plutocrats don't like it, they can take their fat, sagging bottoms off the trillions in capital they're sitting on and start creating the jobs they're supposedly so good at creating and start giving equitable pay raises to their employees instead of treating 20, 30, 40 years of growing profits and expanded business as solely belonging to themselves.
Helping our own people instead of Wars, foreign Aide, Pakistan to 20 billion dollars, sheltering loopholes super Rich for further tax evadings–what is wrong in covering all America? What is wrong in helping unemployed? Nedy? Homeless? Stop wars–tax-evaders. Please do not cry on free-loaders? They are Americans.

Hear, Hear ... and Amen.
Someone has to pay for it. More Federal Debt? No doubt. The economy needs to expand. Taxing the rich to pay all the social bills is still a sure path to total disaster.
Republican/Tea Party governors are caving in because of the federal money and not because it is morally the right thing to do.
Randy, agreed.
if they want reelection they had better like it. The mightiest country in the world and we have people without health care??? Its not because they care only be cause people vote same as immigration. Republicans are not known for their big hearts only their big mouths.

As opposed to poor and elderly dying in the streets, right? The GOP in action...
I think that this is a good move because the more people who have some reasonable level of health insurance (and use it). This might help companies compete because there are many countries out there that have single payer systems which eliminate the cost for companies. That is hurting the companies here because they have another cost their compeditors don't have.
Yo' Ray, does "to whom much is given, much is expected in return" ring any bells?
everyone should pay something ...no matter how rich or poor...mean test social security...medicare should have to either pay or have to work at a state , county or city ...work area
"America is moving to SOCIALIZED MEDICINE"- Ronald Reagan, 1958, as paid Spokesman for the AMA. In 1958, the word Socialized, was right next to Communist, during the Red Scare. Yes, heaven forbid if America ever has a Universal Health Care System. We'll then be like those wussie Europeans, not Real Men. I'm sure God will frown on that too. It would be so inconsistent with the message of Jesus.
That's going to be very, very bad for America..........because that expansion of Medicaid, to cover those who cannot afford the ObamaCare mandate, HAS TO BE PAID FOR BY THE MIDDLE CLASS!

No, they will just increase taxes on the people working for a living. I wonder what they will do when they run out of our money?

lottie- There are people without healthcare for several reasons...some find the local hospital E.R. very handy and FREE. Others are self insured and pay cash and will not buy insurance, period. I've seen new employees take the free coverage for themselves that the company offered, but turn down the inexpensive coverage for their families, because they can go to the hospital if they get sick and get FREE care.
