More spin than solutions as spending cuts near

Washington (CNN) – Three days before forced spending cuts portrayed by most as an economic body blow, President Barack Obama and Republican rivals relied on spin versus substance Tuesday in trying to prod a deeply divided Congress into action to avert the harshest impacts.

Obama headed to military country in Virginia, where local residents will bear the brunt of mandatory cuts to defense spending, for a campaign-style event intended to highlight the negative situation.

Well the President is here in Newport News at the shipyard. If these cuts go into effect, it will be devastating for the Hampton Roads community as a whole. If republicans are supposed to be the party of national security, they're failing miserably at it and putting our security at risk.

these cuts remind me of a fat kid wanting candy and will hold his breath till he gets what he wants....but in the long run he becomes more and more fat and larger...and still wants more and more candy...

Republicans are still trying to get even for the two worst politicians to ever occupy the executive branch, Nixon and Agnew.

5th year of Obama campaign style events and no doubt 3 more to come. Govern? Lead?? NAHHHH!!! No adoring crowds there to boost his ego. Obama is the biggest joke of a president this country has ever had.

BTW CNN, the cuts ARE the solution. Unless your goal is USA bankruptcy, which appears to be the Democrat Party's primary goal.

I love Boehner saying that the President is not leading. Isn't it up to Congress to resolve this and send a bill to the President? Should President Obama step in and do the job of Speaker of the House, who apparently is too pathetic to do his own job while at the same time is blaming the President for not doing Boehner's job.

The real problem is the Boehner can't control the crazies in the Right of his own party. The moderate Republicans and the Democrats could solve this if not for the resistance to reasonable resolutions by the TP types.

The republican dominated house has made it clear they will not compromise and want the sequester to go into effect.

P.S.- the Repubs. are saying that Obama is TOO involved in the Immigration Issue. Tough for Obama to get the porridge JUST right for them.

This says everything: "campaign-style event ". He might get down to governing his last year. He comes up with a terrible solution and blames others when its about to come to fruition. Being a pathological liar has done more for Obama than anyone in history. Lance Armstrong is not even close.

Did anyone notice that the CBO report released this morning states that Obozocare will add $6.2 trillion to the deficit? Remember the most incompetent, inept, corrup, lying, union toady pressident we have ever had told us that it would not add one more dime to the deficit. And yet the snarky, dope smoking, democrat libs would rather talk about Mark Rubio taking a drink of water during or Christies weight than how much their demigot has lied to us. If you want more examples fill your gas tank or compare your paycheck to last years. Obama supporters do not get pay checks so they would not notice anything different their.
