Good move. Even though the Republican leadership won't come to White House state dinners, he should still keep the effort to invite them. Let's see how many of them even bother to respond, much less actually show up.

They probably won't go and then blame Obama for not reaching out. Obama has been trying but every time he reaches out he gets his hand slapped. The Republicans continue to vote "NO" on everything, stall bills, block appointments, set filibuster records, and basically do nothing. John Boehner had promised jobs, jobs, and jobs if the people would elect R's in 2010 but has done nothing in two years. He just sits back and criticizes everything Obama does. His biggest accomplishment will be "promising this president only serves two terms"
Why would they want to go to dinner at the WH? So Obama can subsequently come out and bash them on it?
Adults understand that Democracy requires compromise and a willingness to work together for the good of the country.
