Gun shops face massive ammunition shortage

New York (CNNMoney) - Gun enthusiasts are buying firearms with unparalleled zeal. As a result, ammunition is in short supply nationwide.

"We can't get any inventory within a 100-mile radius," said Mark Campbell, owner of Mid America Arms in St. Louis. He's having a hard time keeping ammo in stock. "It started right around the election, as soon as President Obama mentioned gun control. But right after the school shooting in [Newtown] Connecticut, that's when it went crazy."

Good news. More Education is needed–not guns. Pass gun-ban laws.

It's ironic that people are getting robbed of their 2nd amendment rights by people zealously practicing their 2nd amendment rights...

One study released this week shows that despite the increased volume of weapons being sold in recentyears, the number of households that own a gun has decreased. Most of the gun sales are going to existing gun owners.

This isn't surprising at all. Republicans have convinced some people that the govt is going to take away their guns. It's the best marketing plan I've seen in a long time. Guns and ammunition are flying off the shelves like the latest toys at Christmas. Toy Mfrs know that all they have do is create a shortage or the illusion of one and they rake in a fortune. The GOP markets fear and panic quite well. The 2nd Amendment is not the least bit threatened but it's great theater. Maybe it will at least stimulate the economy. It's odd how people have money to buy the things they want. Guns, concert tickets @ $100+ ea – no empty seats at the Super Bowl :)

This story is a bunch of crap because if you're like me a concealed gun owner of multiple weapons you stock up and I never go to a gun store because I buy in bulk of 1000 rounds or more because its cheaper ...People are stupid running to Walmarts,Cabelas and Gander Mountain because you're paying almost double plus state tax than I pay and guess what brainiacs out there its delivered to my door ,just pay the shipping which today is way better than buying gas and fighting traffic just to load up...Check the net and you'll see just like everything else how easy it is to order online and in days its at your door ,done just start shooting and enjoy!!PS,just call ahead and make sure your ammo type is available because some like 10 mm for my Glock are back ordered and take awhile, but its worth the wait compared to buyig it store wise!!And this guy in St.Louis probibly buys from the same company I do if he doesn't make them himself that's why he's always short,he obviously doesn't thing ahead. This gun thing on Pres.Obama has been raging with the NRA backing since his inaugeration and you idiots are taking it hook, line and sinker nothing further from the truth from them as usual and you ignorents as well know it!!!
