(CNN) – Super size? Yes, please, say Mississippi lawmakers.
The same day a judge blocked a ban on the sale of large, sugary drinks in New York City, senators in Mississippi approved, by a 50-1 vote, a bill that would prevent similar efforts in their state.

Isn't it a form of socialism and authoritarian control for a government to pass laws prohibiting the passage of certain types of laws? Authoritarianism at its' best. Reminds of the "Emergency Manager" laws Republicans passed in Michigan.
Yawn. These are the same people attempting to enact laws "nullifying" federal laws regarding gun control...as if the Civil War never happend, the SCOTUS hasn't addressed that kind of nonsense and it all needs to be rehashed all over again as if for the first time.
Leave it up to the most obese state in the country to enact a measure like this. That's an oxymoron for ya.
Didn't they try to pass a law making it illegal to recognise Sharia law as well?
Mississippi....the state of useless law creation. And the bastion of all conservative ideals.
You said it Dutch....let them have their McNuggets, Whoppers and 64 ounce sodas. the healthcare bill from the most obese state is gonna get even worse.
Obesessissippi !
High in diabetes and kidney dialysis .
Go Obama care
Conservatives love laws- that's why they pass so many of them that either make no sense (like Arizona's "Gun's Rights" law that make it illegal for a municipality to destroy or render useless a firearm)- or the many and varied anti-birth control and anti-abortion bills the GOP endlessly cranks out (often in league with ALEC). The truth is the GOP isn't the "party of freedom" they are the party of "big government"- it just happens to be big government that they want.

How much health care money Mississippi receive from the federal government? It is good to reconsider the amount of money they receive for health care if they cannot keep them selves healthy.
There should be a law against writing laws that outlaw writing laws that prohibit future types of laws.
Is it too late to revoke Mississippi's re-admission into the Union?
There should be a law that outlaws he Chief Executive from picking and choosing the laws he decides to enforce.
"There should be a law against writing laws that outlaw writing laws that prohibit writing future types of laws."
Actually, I think there is already such a law on the books. It's called the 1st Amendment to the US Constitution. BTW, that word salad shows just how *twisted* you have to get in order to keep up with the right wing.
I agree! If some Americans want to sugar themselves to death, let them!! It is their choice!
Besides, they need those large cups of sugary brown water to wash down those Twinkies!!!
but seriously, this is going too far! These are choices that people can make for themselves!
If you want to eat and drink unhealthy things, that should be your choice. Just dont make me pay for your medical bills!!!
If you drink pop and eat Twinkies all your life and then have a heart atack because of your lifestyle choices, make sure you have the cash to pay for it. Why should those of us who try to stay healthy have to pay for your hospital stays??
