Michelle Obama's second 'Vogue' cover

(CNN) - Michelle Obama appears on the cover of April's edition of Vogue, the second time the first lady's photo has graced the front of the fashion bible.

Vogue has, for the past decade, run its "Shape issue" in April, focusing on what they describe as "the beauty and well-being of women's bodies." Past covers have featured Brooke Shields, Scarlett Johansson and Gisele Bundchen.

Michelle Obama last appeared on Vogue's cover in March 2009, wearing a pink dress designed by Jason Wu, who had two months earlier dressed the first lady for that year's inauguration balls. She also wore a Jason Wu gown to this year's inaugural balls. The photograph was by famed portraitist Annie Leibovitz.

She first made an appearance in the magazine in 2005, when her husband was a U.S. senator from Illinois. A profile of her appeared in the September 2006 issue with an accompanying portrait by Leibovitz.

The past two first ladies have both appeared in the magazine – Hillary Clinton was pictured on the cover, and Laura Bush was profiled along side a Leibovitz photo.

The editor-in-chief of Vogue, Anna Wintour, was a major fundraiser for Obama during last year's presidential campaign.

– CNN's Alina Cho and Kevin Liptak contributed to this report.

Takes all the perks but does none of the work...that's what you get with affirmative action

I wonder how much it cost for security and the wardrobe on the backs of taxpayers?

All First Ladies have security. There was no need to any additional security for this photo shoot – the same people who are detailed to security are perfectly capable of doing their jobs. The President & First Lady pay for their own personal expenses. Now put the bowl of sour grapes on the table and back away SLOWLY!

Michelle + Vogue Cover = Oxymoron. It's so sad. Vogue's editor in chief, Anna Wintour is a huge support of Democratic party. I guess Anna really wants to be an U.S. ambassdaor to France. I didn't know Anna is an American – I though she is a Brit. Humm.... something is fishy!

Well America if you don't want the Obama's we will gladly take them as our First Faily here in Canada. We'll take them as our First Family over Steven Harper and his ill shaped no sense of style wife any day.

The editor is a huge bundler for the Obama's. She was even in consideration for French Ambassador...So you can see how humble Michelle is.

She does look slightly photoshopped, and that's too bad because she's already gorgeous.

And thanks to all the haters whose responses have given me more than a few laughs.

    Stay classy and beautiful Michelle!

Then perhaps your ilk should seek professional help to overcome your hatred. Like it or not, President Obama won election with a MAJORITY (more than 50%) of the vote. The people have spoken and we're done living under the tyranny of the minority, so get over yourself!

Having the First Lady on it's front cover, is a far cry from the usual standards of underage, half-starved, emaciated anorexic skeletons that you've probably become accustomed to.

At least the Democrats are trying to run the WHOLE country, not just pander to Grover Norquist and the 1%.

I wonder how much it cost for security and the wardrobe on the backs of taxpayers? The inquiring minds of the laid off boarder agents want to know.
    _______________________________________
Obviously insinuating this cost taxpayers is the FOX Noise talking point of the day. As to who caused the layoffs, who wrote the Sequester Bill? Why that was the House Republicans lead by Boehner- who said he got 98% of what he wanted.
    Oooops!

Best FLOTUS ever. I love Michelle Obama and what she has done for the country. After the "W" debacle, she has continued to heal the nation providing comfort to families who have lost loved ones from the impeachable acts of the previous administration. She also works diligently by attempting to heal the nation from the endemic known as obesity! On top of this, she is a loving wife to our President and a wonderful mother to the first daughters, Malia and Sasha. What a great family!

Thank you Rudy by reminding us of how hypocritical democrat liberals are. If it was Sara Palin or any Republican the dope smokers, welfare frauds and corrupt union bosses would be screaming loud.
