Rubio isn't down with J.T.

(CNN) – The public is gaining a clearer picture of Sen. Marco Rubio's preferred music tastes: He's in with Tupac, Eminem, Kanye West, Jay-Z and Big Sean.

But the junior senator said Tuesday he doesn't share the same love for pop star Justin Timberlake, who's releasing his widely-anticipated comeback album "The 20/20 Experience."

"Listen, he's a talented performer, but he's not a-, he's not on my iPod list," Rubio said on CNN's "The Lead with Jake Tapper."

Even though Jay-Z appears on the album with the former 'N Sync star, the senator said he wasn't too eager to listen to Timberlake.

"No - no - you know, nothing against him. You know, he's very popular. He's just not one of the guys I listen to," he said.

"Not hardcore enough for Senator Rubio," Tapper said.

"Justin Timberlake?" Rubio asked, chuckling. "No."

Rubio, who's considered a potential 2016 presidential candidate, made headlines late last year when he said hip hop artist, Pitbull, could not compare to some of his other favorite artists, like Eminem. His comments quickly drew criticism, as the musician hails from Rubio's hometown of Miami. Rubio later clarified his statements on Twitter, saying he has "much respect" for Pitbull but his music is mostly "party music." Pitbull appeared on Rubio's Spotify list when it was released a few months later.

Maybe we'll see "SexyBack" on the senator's iPod one day, but as of now, it looks doubtful.

Two of the up and coming GOP :stars" want us to know what's on their IPODs. I would rather know what is in their heads and hearts and how they will govern, or should I say ram their personal beliefs and adgendas down our throats.

I don't care for Timberlake either – what's with the falsetto? Ordinary voice. Not that I care for Rubio either.

This story, as it is written was horribly done. Personal prefernces in music mean nothing and tell you nothing about that person. Next thing we hear is politician rips on BMW, prefers Mercedes instead.....hip to Lexus and Infiniti, but BMW just isnt luxurious enough. Stupid. Some of you commenting here are at least as juvenile and idiotic. Because this guy identifies himself as Republican, he automatically is doing things to garner votes 4 years out? He's not cool enough for you because his alphabet behind his name says R? It's knuckleheads like yourselves that are shutting down the creative process for finding ways to remedy our country's problems. Who cares if he is R or D, if he has good solid creative ideas to get us back on the right path, then I'm all for him. Saying all that, I have no clue what his ideas are and I'm not all for him because he isnt running and I have not done my research and thinking on this. Bring up what you will, but these little petty stories and all of your useless comments are intended to do damage to someone you haven't listened to nor have even given the opportunity to ONLY because of his political party. Discrimination of sorts...right??? From all those whose seemingly screamed this sort of charge constantly. Keep it up and your ignorance will ruin you.

Once again, CNN brings out misleading headlines. Saying someone is talented, but you don't listen to them is hardly "Ripping on" them.

Yeah right Rubio whatever and I only listen to Dolly Parton and Tammy Wynette.

No one cares if you listen to hip hop/rap, you're still a RWNJ.
Too bad you didn't attempt to enlighten the rest of your klan by playing some Pac and Biggie at the RNC last year. Maybe they could have learned something instead of spitting on the black workers.

Rubio, you will never be POTUS and truthfully, you shouldn't even be a Senator. Sorry dude you don't even seem that intelligent. Not that intelligence counts since W was elected twice.

Waiting for these artists to let rubio know what they think of him, sort of like Rage Against the Machine did when ayn ryan said they were his favorite....they let him know in no uncertain terms that the target of their "rage" is people just like him, and the conservative party. Guessing that Tupac would not have thought much of rubio, given that Tupac's folks were Black Panthers and Tupac was a voice for social justice, not something the conservative movement has ever been about. Ever.

I suppose that Rubio's apparent musical preference should be a "heads up" to those artists. In recent elections, some Republicans have atrocious about using songs and music from various artists without permission or compensation. I suggest that they be pro-active about putting a stop to it now, so that when the line is crossed it will be to the candidate's demise.

Rubio's policies are the same old GOP policies, so the majority of Americans will not be down with him, regardless of his musical taste.

So his taste in music sucks too....so not surprised....and oh...not because he doesn't like Timberlake or Pitbull.....basically, I think RAP sucks, period....and especially RAP that is vulgar and full of hate.

It's part of the GOPs maqketing job designed to make Hispanics believe the Republicans now embrace issues from that community. They need to stop trying to make the pitch with this coconut who only embarrass himself – like Sarah Palin with a Ricky Ricardo costume.
