Boehner on Obama quip: 'So much for the charm offensive'

(CNN) – President Barack Obama may be joking about enjoying his break from congressional gridlock, but House Speaker John Boehner says it's just a sign of mutual endearment.

"I'd rather be heckled than ignored. Or as I like to say, you only tease the ones you love," Boehner told CNN's Jake Tapper in an interview set to air Wednesday at 4 p.m. on "The Lead."

Earlier in the day, Obama quipped that "It's good to get away from Congress" as he deplaned in Tel Aviv, the first stop on his Mideast trip. The joke elicited a big laugh from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who was greeting Obama at the airport.

"So much for the charm offensive," Boehner joked Wednesday, referring to the recent outreach from Obama to members of Congress as they continue to haggle over spending cuts and taxes.

Boehner said the comment wouldn't have any real impact on the relationship between lawmakers and the president.

"The president's meeting with the president of Israel. He's got his legislative issues, the president's got his. Comes with the territory," Boehner said.

JustSayin: This whole "leftist dictator" crap is just your way of rationalizing all the obstruction and destruction the GOP has engaged in ever since President Obama was elected (and re-elected, I might add).

If you had anything to offer our country, you would. But you and the GOP don't, so you lie and obstruct and in general do everything you can to keep our country from moving forward.

YOU are the ones who are the real threat to our country, what with your ignorance and inability to think critically.

Boehner has been known not to return phone calls, which is an inexcusable breach of protocol.

    Are you serious?
For the fourth time in 5 years Obama hasn't submitted a budget on time.
And the Senate submits it's first budget in 4 four years, which they are required by law to do annually.
    -----------------
Such is life when the government's revenue is managed by Continuing Resolutions, instead of normal budgets. Before your smart retort, remember that we have been running on CRs ever since TARP. So, yeah, it's all Bush's fault. :)

As for submitting on time budgets, the White House has promised a budget in the first week in April. I should point out that the House hasn't really settled fiscal cliff and the sequester issues, yet. They've simply postponed them.. They will not be settled until March 27, or shortly thereafter.

The White House will submit a budget once it finds out how revenue that the Congress will set for the rest of the year. Paul Ryan has submitted his budget either with advance knowledge of how the March 27 deadline will be resolved, or he has chosen to completely ignore reallity and make up some numbers.....once again.

If most Liberals have never worked a day in their lives, then please explain why Blue states have a higher education level and per-capita income than Red states? And why Liberals like Warren Buffet are among the wealthiest in the world?

Still can't figure how the Republicans chose Boehner to be Speaker? He is the real reason for the downfall of the GOP.

Obama hasn't produced a budget in 5 years, becuase Mitch McConnell and the other republican retards made it clear that they would obstruct this president in any way possible. Why waste your time on something they wont even give serious thought to?

Wrong. That's just another right wing fairy tale. Don't you recall the pleasure the right wing took in pointing out how Pres. Obama's budget was voted down 100-0 in the Senate? Pres. Obama produces a budget every year, as required by law.

    "Nice try, but we gotcha."

Barry has put out a budget, that his own party unanimously voted against. Still Republicans issue? Even Barry's own party knows he is a joke.

Guess again. What was unanimously defeated was the sham "budget" Republicans presented in response to Obama's actual proposal. It had NO details, and was not a workable document.

I threaten to turn my TV off every day so I don't have to wince with pain at the GOP hate-mongering, and Boehner is the leader of the bunch. He knows hate-mongering well; he will turn any and every word the president utters into something negative. I think someone just needs to kiss Boehner a lot. (Not me, though). :)

If Barry is such a joke how did he get elected twice? Why does the GOP have the least popularity that it has had in years and years. I think maybe the GOP has issues it needs to address, if they are ever to be considered a legitimate governing influence again.

The single most p*ssing in his pants scared, incompetent speaker of the house in memory. Literally too scared to show up for state dinners with the world's leaders to which he's invited since he might have his picture taken with President Obama which in right-wing world is the kiss of death.
