Boehner on Obama quip: 'So much for the charm offensive'

(CNN) – President Barack Obama may be joking about enjoying his break from congressional gridlock, but House Speaker John Boehner says it's just a sign of mutual endearment.

"I'd rather be heckled than ignored. Or as I like to say, you only tease the ones you love," Boehner told CNN's Jake Tapper in an interview set to air Wednesday at 4 p.m. on "The Lead."

Earlier in the day, Obama quipped that "It's good to get away from Congress" as he deplaned in Tel Aviv, the first stop on his Mideast trip. The joke elicited a big laugh from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who was greeting Obama at the airport.

"So much for the charm offensive," Boehner joked Wednesday, referring to the recent outreach from Obama to members of Congress as they continue to haggle over spending cuts and taxes.

Boehner said the comment wouldn't have any real impact on the relationship between lawmakers and the president.

"The president's meeting with the president of Israel. He's got his legislative issues, the president's got his. Comes with the territory," Boehner said.

This is not a political dissucion, but rather another Obma love fest.
CNN once again leaves out the truth and anything negitive about Obama and blames it all on Bush.

Perhaps if Mr Boehner and other republicans would stop wasting time to get face time in order to pander to the tea party, we might actually get results. Oh wait, Easter is coming up. Congress is going to need another two week break.

Can you even define the term "liberal"? If you're talking about those who believe in a progressive tax rate you'll need to include Ronald Reagan. If you mean somebody who cares about the poor you mean people like Barry Goldwater. SOmebody who supports gay marriage? Dick Cheney? Supports the environmental work ow the EPA? Richard Nixon?

Boehner is in charge of the republicans that form the "Do Nothing Congress." They have done nothing to progress the country and they are the ones responsible for turning the country into a third world nation. Why do people keep voting for them, I wonder?

As Mr. Boehner smiles and chuckles. Enjoy it while you can John, you'll be out soon enough. Clown.

This back and forth puppet on a string show is not going to last very much longer. Everything is for a profit and for sale these days. Don't like it, get in a spaceship and go to Mars, because it is all over the earth now.

Hopefully the people will finally wake up before it's too late, and vote some real leadership into office. Someone who can bring real growth to the economy. It's like we're all watching a bad play and nobody want's to get up for fear of others seeing them leave. People, THIS PLAY IS SO BAD, WE ALL NEED TO LEAVE!

It's too late. Pres. Obama has already been re-elected. As far as that right wing catch pharse "economi growth" goes, it's just a euphimism for deficit spending.

To Donna – guess what? I am an educated "liberal" going for my masters. I live in a double wide modular, and my father was a blue collar iron worker for 40 years. You would quit some of the jobs I've worked in the first hour. Your so called stereotypical insults don' t quite fall in here. And I would still vote for Obama.

Thank you President Obama for leading this nation into the future. Say goodbye to all these old, self-described 'stupid' old white Republicans, who stand for nothing but corporate greed and bigotry.

America is now out of our wars, we have a great new health care law, immigration reform is coming, and best of all, President Obama reduced the military spending.

These are great times for America – stock market will hit 18,000 and jobless percent will slip below 3% during these next few years.

Conservatives have always distanced themselves from the responsibility of the recession and the deficit. Again... over 8.5 million jobs were lost BEFORE the President took office. BUSH issued the first bailout check. Bush started two un-funded wars using falsified intelligence data and with no exit strategy. You don't even let him appear in public GOP events! Obamacare is nothing more the Romneycare – a Republican plan that worked and you loved until the Democrats embraced it. Of course you've never manned-up to the responsibility for the recession... that's not the conservative way.

Nope. No deeply personal issues whatsoever. Definitely not the issues you are hinting at. Then again, I am not a Evangelical.

The President could have them for three meals a day, everyday on our dollar. It doesn't makes difference what he does or doesn't do, nothing will work to make this Congress happy, not even if Obama were to switch parties.. As a an American I find it all very shameful!

Ever hear of "compassionate conservative"? Didn't think so! Same as the "charm offensive". There is no charming the haters of the world. The president was just being real and showing the world what he is "dealing" with.

    @K.

We do have a President and he was reelected just a few months ago by the majority of Americans. The SCOTUS didn't have to decide who won, it was very clear to anyone with half a brain. Which is why only idiots that watch Fox believed Mittens had a snowballs chance in hell.

    Toodles!
