For Obama in Israel, the issues are all in the neighborhood

Jerusalem (CNN) – The United States is Israel's closest and most important ally, and when there are tensions – over issues like Iran, for example, the Israeli complaint is usually something to the effect of "Washington is too far away to fully understand."

Whether or not you agree, it's worth noting Israel's place in an always complicated neighborhood that is especially uncertain at the moment.

Colorado governor signs gun control measures

(CNN) - Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper on Wednesday signed three gun-control measures into law, including one that will require universal background checks for gun sales.

The measures also will make buyers pay for their own background checks and limit ammunition magazines to 15 rounds.

The Colorado laws go into effect July 1.

Obama tells Netanyahu 'it's good to get away from Congress'

(CNN) - Stepping off Air Force One Wednesday in Tel Aviv, President Barack Obama seemed to breathe a sigh of relief at escaping a gridlocked Washington.

"It's good to get away from Congress," Obama was heard telling Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during a formal arrival ceremony at the Ben Gurion Airport. The quip elicited a big laugh from Netanyahu and a grin from Obama, who then posed for photos.

Poll: Florida's Crist at 50% in possible comeback

(CNN) - Could it be back to the future for former Florida Gov. Charlie Crist?

That's the suggestion from a new poll, which indicates the Republican turned Democrat is leading the Sunshine State's current GOP governor in a hypothetical 2014 election showdown.

Presidential limo breaks down ahead of Obama's arrival

Jerusalem (CNN) - An official limousine awaiting President Barack Obama's arrival in Israel malfunctioned Wednesday but the Secret Service now says the reason for the mechanical problem had nothing to do with the type of fuel used, as first reported.

"The appropriate gas was put in the car," Ed Donovan, spokesman for the Secret Service, told CNN.

Obama's final four revealed

(CNN) – President Barack Obama spent Wednesday morning touring Israel's Iron Dome missile defense system, but back home his NCAA bracket was also making big news.

The president chose Louisville, Indiana, Ohio State and Florida to reach this year's final four. That includes two number one seeds – Louisville in the Midwest region and Indiana in the East.

States eye Medicaid private insurance

New York (CNNMoney) - Republican state lawmakers may not want to expand Medicaid, but some are warming up to the idea of using federal funds to buy private insurance for the poor.

That twist is keeping alive the possibility of broadening Medicaid coverage in states where conservative legislators are bucking their governors' acceptance of the optional - and controversial - Affordable Care Act provision.

Obama makes first trip to Israel as president

Jerusalem (CNN) – U.S. President Barack Obama arrived in Israel on Wednesday as concerns about Iran's nuclear progress percolate.

The trip, his first to the country as president, is part of his sweep across the Middle East, which will include visits to the West Bank and Jordan.

CNN: Computer outage in South Korea hits broadcasters and bank

South Korean police said Wednesday they are investigating a computer outage that has struck systems at leading television broadcasters and banks, prompting the military to step up its cyber alert level amid concerns about North Korea. One television station, YTN, reported that 500 of its computers had been disabled by the outage. Another, KBS, said that its internal networks had been "paralyzed," but that the problem didn't prevent it from broadcasting live.

In the biggest fight over firearms since December's massacre at a Connecticut elementary school, gun-control advocates are poised to notch a victory in an unlikely place. Colorado Gov.
