In the days of austerity we're living in, I'd like to know how much in benefits will have to be paid out.

The rights of a large swath of the population should not be based on a dollar figure.

The rights of the minority should not be put to a public referendum to be decided by the majority. They'll always lose.

Austerity my butt, Dutch! The stock market is up, corporate profits are up while their taxes are lower than they've been since the 1950s, the GDP is up... We're not in "days of austerity" we're in "days of money grabbing greed"... That's the biggest problem with unchecked capitalism: "Screw you, I got mine!"

I agree Dutch...how dare they! It's like when black people demanded equal rights during the great depression. So inconsiderate!

DOMA is toast. Choice for GOP/Teatrolls: get on the bus or get under it.

the real answer is to leave the definition of marriage alone but remove it from our legal system and laws. government should recognize any union which is in a legal contract whether it is between anybody, including polygamists. government should hve no say in the matter if i have 3 wives.

Good point. And Christians tax dollars will be going to pay for it. Along with Obamacares anti-religious requirements.

BTW, there is no "austerity". Just ask Joe Biden about his million dollar plus day in Paris at our expense. Or Obama about the costs of his golf outing with Tiger Woods?

Hate to break the bad news to you, but money has no civil rights. At least it didn't prior to Citizens United. Besides, we conduct referendums on property tax rates and school budgets all the time. If we decided people's rights by referendum then blacks in the South would have never had the right to vote, a place to live, somewhere to buy food, and a seat on the city bus to their job if they had one.

Taxes are something that is under the control of the Legislature, unless the tax is discriminatory, like a poll tax. Human rights issues, like the Right to Marry, is a civil right. If you disagree, ask Ted Olson, the lead counsel for the plaintiffs in this case who is making a conservative case for this. Kinda like Justice Roberts with the ACA. Civil Rights need to be guaranteed, and you can't take that away simply because you dislike the lifestyle.

I hope you do understand just how silly you sound trying to push your talking point tripe as intelligent conversation?
