Carrey calls conservative media critics 'bullies'

(CNN) - Jim Carrey's video mocking the late actor and National Rifle Association President Charlton Heston didn't please some conservatives - not that Carrey himself minds.

The video, a spoof version of the old comedy show "Hee Haw," featured Carrey playing both Heston and the leader of a country-western group, mocking Heston's declaration that gun control advocates would have to pry his firearms "from my cold, dead hands"

Conservative pundits claimed Carrey was inappropriately denigrating Heston, who died in 2008. Taking particular aim at, presumably, Fox News - the spelling below is his - Carrey responded to the critics Friday.

"In my opinion Fux News is a last resort for kinda-sorta-almost-journalists whose options have been severely limited by their extreme and intolerant views; a media colostomy bag that has begun to burst at the seams and should be emptied before it becomes a public health issue," Carrey wrote in a statement.

"I sincerely believe that in time, good people will lose patience with the petty and poisonous behavior of these bullies and Fux News will be remembered as nothing more than a giant culture fart that no amount of Garlique could cure," he continued.

Heston, who died in 2008, rose to fame as an actor in movies like "The Ten Commandments" and "Ben-Hur." Later in life, however, he turned his attention to political advocacy, eventually becoming the president of the National Rifle Association from 1998-2003.

Carrey starred in movies like "Ace Ventura Pet Detective" and "The Mask." He actively argues his case for gun control on Twitter @JimCarrey.

A spokeswoman for Fox News did not respond to a request for comment.

At least those kinda-sorta-almost-journalists at Fox have been in front of a camera in the last 5 years doing something that didn't involve Dr. Seuss.

How about the liberal media? Has anyone ever listened to Alan Colmes' show? He only brings on the most dullard callers, and makes anyone who is not a liberal look like a dolt.

Jimmie wants it both ways. He wants to have bodyguards with guns protecting him and his property, but doesn't think the rest of us deserve the same rights. Who does he think he is? Just because he can act in a movie and has a lot of money, it doesn't mean his opinion should be valued more than anybody else. Mocking the dead is in horrible taste.

I'm actually not a big Jim Carrey fan, but I don't think that comparison is very fair. Carrey also starred in such movies as "The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" and "Man on the Moon" which were highly acclaimed, and Heston also starred in such movies as "Beneath the Planet of the Apes" and "A Call from Space" which were schlock.

Carrey should go after the vaccine faker who made him look like an idiot and clean up that mess before he moves on to a new cause.

He is so "all over the map" that he appears desperate.

Love it Jim, thanks. It has all the Texas teabillies and faux news in an uproar which is a good thing.

I find this absolutely hysterical that Carrey, or any Liberal, would accuse anyone of being bullies! Liberals are the epitome of bullies. That's the way they achieve all of their progressive ideas and laws. Jim Carrey has made countless movies depicting him killing people with guns and he currently has his own personal, armed bodyguards. So since he can afford to pay someone to protect him with guns, he thinks the average American shouldn't be allowed to own a gun to protect them and their family? The hypocrisy is just getting out of control!

People who listen to Charlton Heston have created a culture of guns that kills children. People who listen to Jim Carrey have whipped up irrational fear of vaccines that kills children. Maybe the lesson here is to stop listening to people because you like their movies, and start listening to people because they have an educated and well-considered opinion on important topics.

What made Jim so funny in his early days was his pure lunacy. What has made him irrelevant as a comedian and even more irrelevant as a political mouthpiece tool for the left is his lunacy gone to the extreme. He hasn't had a Major hit since what Liar, Liar?

Guess he still hasn't gotten over his stalking video of an actress half his age loaded with pyscho-babble nonsense.

So typical of these celebrities! They feel they can mock and denigrate anyone but cannot accept it when people let them know they've made fools of themselves! This guy is a loser! Barely smart enough to learn his lines off a script!

Carrey was born in Canada; a country that doesn't allow honest citizens the right to carry guns. So If Mr. Carrey is so opposed to the Second Amendment then I suggest that he moves back to his native country.

Jim please stick to your acting, at least sometimes it is funny. You are not ready for the real world, your feelings are to shallow.

Used to think he was funny when he was young and hungry. For the last ~5 years or so, however, the man seems to have lost it, making desperate attempts for attention like this. I feel sad for him.

I don't find Jim Carrey humorous, never have liked his sense of humor. YET, I totally give him leeway to make a statement just as I do anyone that resides in our country and pays taxes. I am for gun control to a point, my sons are both responsible hunters and gun advocates. They do not see the need for Bushmaster type weaponry. If it ever came to a militia taking on the US government with their weapons of war, 200 lined up with AR15's wouldn't make a dent.

Funny how has-been cretins like carrey call others "bullies" – who's the one making fun of people? Who's the one trying to censor freedom of speech for a news organization (oh, and don't say that "Fox isn't a news organization" unless you also say "and neither is Mucho Socialist National Barack Channel (MSNBC)" – the ONLY difference is that one is a cheer leader for the president, when in fact, it is the media's JOB to actually (gasp) ask the hard questions of the government & to keep them in check!! It's NOT their job to rubber stamp everything they say, to forgo investigating the truth behind the statements, and to basically be a stenogrpaher for the president.

At that point, the media becomes state run propaganda for whatever lies the president wants to spew out.

At any rate, folks like carrey are laughable in that, they are the VERY things they accuse others of being!!!

    TYPICAL LEFTIST HYPOCRISY!!

Let's see, Charlton Heston made movies like Ben-Hur, The Ten Commandments, El-Cid, and The Planet of the Apes. Jim Carrey made movies like Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, Liar Liar, Dumb and Dumber, and The Mask. Charlton Heston was one of the first actors to walk with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in Selma for Civil Rights. Jim Carrey scares people trying to get the NOT to vaccinate their children for measles, which killed 160,000 worldwide last year according to the WHO. Last but not least, Charlton Heston was married to his first wife for 64 years at the time of his death. Jim Carrey has been married and divorced twice. Who has more credibility? I think I would listen to Charlton Heston before I listened to Jim Carrey (even after he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's).
