Carrey calls conservative media critics 'bullies'

(CNN) - Jim Carrey's video mocking the late actor and National Rifle Association President Charlton Heston didn't please some conservatives - not that Carrey himself minds.

The video, a spoof version of the old comedy show "Hee Haw," featured Carrey playing both Heston and the leader of a country-western group, mocking Heston's declaration that gun control advocates would have to pry his firearms "from my cold, dead hands"

Conservative pundits claimed Carrey was inappropriately denigrating Heston, who died in 2008. Taking particular aim at, presumably, Fox News - the spelling below is his - Carrey responded to the critics Friday.

"In my opinion Fux News is a last resort for kinda-sorta-almost-journalists whose options have been severely limited by their extreme and intolerant views; a media colostomy bag that has begun to burst at the seams and should be emptied before it becomes a public health issue," Carrey wrote in a statement.

"I sincerely believe that in time, good people will lose patience with the petty and poisonous behavior of these bullies and Fux News will be remembered as nothing more than a giant culture fart that no amount of Garlique could cure," he continued.

Heston, who died in 2008, rose to fame as an actor in movies like "The Ten Commandments" and "Ben-Hur." Later in life, however, he turned his attention to political advocacy, eventually becoming the president of the National Rifle Association from 1998-2003.

Carrey starred in movies like "Ace Ventura Pet Detective" and "The Mask." He actively argues his case for gun control on Twitter @JimCarrey.

A spokeswoman for Fox News did not respond to a request for comment.

I guess there's a movie coming out to draw attention to as there's no other logical explanation for his behavior. I don't suspect he has to kiss lib butt anymore as he is very successful, from such classics as dumb and dumber. He's obviously more intelligent than the founding fathers with the fart jokes and colostomy bags and so on...I think I'll keep my weapons though and he and piers can continue to segregate themselves safely from the populace while casting stones at the rest of us

To the person who commented on Adam Lanza having more than 1110 rounds of ammunition, "Is that all he had", most gun owners have alot more than that. I just bought about 1500 rounds myself, and as far as him having his safe door open, "whats your point, it's a door, most doors open up.

Heston didn't turn to political advocacy "late in life," he was a champion for civil rights during the prime of his career, going so far as to accompany Dr. King in D.C. in '63. CNN, please do better in your reporting. Heston ALSO supported early gun control, but saw as early as the 1970's that the progressive left were gun banners, not controllers, and fiercely defended the civil right guaranteed by the 2nd amendment until his death. As for Carrey, he's free to say what he pleases (and I continue to love his films), but he should know just how absurd was his stance on vaccinations, and the significant risk to public health his proposals would have wrought if adopted.

Fox News really is a limited unreliable news source. Can't argue with Carrey there. The NRA is simply financed mostly by the GREEDY firearms industry AND like the Health Industry is guilty of buying off most of our Fed reps.
Almost impossible to fight big money- they run the country. You can bet they will jerk Carrey's tongue out before much longer. Billions will overcome millions for sure. All ready the word goeth forth "bring me the head of that AH Carrey."

Ted Nugent has his own line of ammo. I wonder if he'll develop loads specific for the light weight targets you'd find in pre-kinder? Should they be high velocity, light rounds with fast expanding hollow points for maxiun shock? Speakup! These are you 2nd Amendment rights to gun down innocent kids. Don't want to waste them with a poor kill ratio!

I don't think anyone with the money should be able to buy a firearm that can produce mass casualties, should automatically be able to buy that firearm and then produce go out and produce mass casualties. But, Carrey just looked mean, even his eyes looked mean. He isn't someone I would want to be near, I would move away from him as slyly as I could, if I found myself near him.

Independents and Latinos control the election results in this country. If Jim Carey and the media appeal to them, then the Democrats will be wining more elections. If Charlton Heston, the NRA and Fox News appeal to them, then the Republicans will be winning more elections. Either way, gotta love a good laugh. Fux News is Fair & Balanced.

why did he pick on a dead man? he could have parodied Chuck Norris, Ted Nugent, Clint Eastwood or any other live conservative gun owners. but he doesn't have the guts to take on someone alive.......he should move back to canada......is he even a citizen of the US? if not, he should shut his trap........

Jim Carrey cannot begin to measure up to Mr Heston's legacy. The best that he can do is to try to denigrate him. What a pompous, self-absorbed, one-trick-pony phony. He doesn't have the guile, intelligence nor talent to fight a real fight: one with a living person.

Tonight the "10 Commandments" was on prime time starring Charleton Heston filmed in 1956. Jim Carrey hasn't had a movie in years.

I am loving these comments, especially the ones that are in favor of Jim Carey. He is whining about Fox News 'bullying' him, but if you read these comments, it is a big bully-session from his fans:

    ' happyfrenchman

You tell them Jim.... it is true enough. They are whining cryers. It is good to hear someone standing up to them. Listen to them cry. That just means you are sticking it to them. Cry on contards. Your tears are like sweet sweet whine to the Frenchman.
