Carrey calls conservative media critics 'bullies'

(CNN) - Jim Carrey's video mocking the late actor and National Rifle Association President Charlton Heston didn't please some conservatives - not that Carrey himself minds.

The video, a spoof version of the old comedy show "Hee Haw," featured Carrey playing both Heston and the leader of a country-western group, mocking Heston's declaration that gun control advocates would have to pry his firearms "from my cold, dead hands"

Conservative pundits claimed Carrey was inappropriately denigrating Heston, who died in 2008. Taking particular aim at, presumably, Fox News - the spelling below is his - Carrey responded to the critics Friday.

"In my opinion Fux News is a last resort for kinda-sorta-almost-journalists whose options have been severely limited by their extreme and intolerant views; a media colostomy bag that has begun to burst at the seams and should be emptied before it becomes a public health issue," Carrey wrote in a statement.

"I sincerely believe that in time, good people will lose patience with the petty and poisonous behavior of these bullies and Fux News will be remembered as nothing more than a giant culture fart that no amount of Garlique could cure," he continued.

Heston, who died in 2008, rose to fame as an actor in movies like "The Ten Commandments" and "Ben-Hur." Later in life, however, he turned his attention to political advocacy, eventually becoming the president of the National Rifle Association from 1998-2003.

Carrey starred in movies like "Ace Ventura Pet Detective" and "The Mask." He actively argues his case for gun control on Twitter @JimCarrey.

A spokeswoman for Fox News did not respond to a request for comment.

Carrey is showing signs of going down the same path as Martin Sheen. Of course, that seems to be the behavior his entire career is based on. While some of his work is entertaining, much of it reminds me of a hostile, bipolar rant. I have no idea what he is trying to cover up with his outlandish behavior but his insecurity is evident. His "art" is based on insulting, ridiculing and shouting at his target. He not only took a career that enables him to pretend to be someone else, many of the characters he portrays are cartoons, double pretend. He behaves like an overgrown third-grader.
This man is evidently one very disturbed individual and he definitely shouldn't be allowed a firearm. I guess it is a good thing that he is anti-gun but he certainly isn't a valid spokesman for the cause.

I guess Carey doesn't have a career in entertainment anymore. While moaning about Fux News, he is probably still mourning Olbermann's demise at MSNBC. If you want to condemn Fox, you have to condemn MSNBC, they are opposite sides of the same coin.

Jim Carey has as much right to free speech as anybody else . Heston supported the right to bear
CHILD KILLING WEAPONS . Fox news has been proven not a reliable news source because they
are always LYING , case in point the last election .

Does Carrie not remember that Heston was gay. He may have been conservative, but he was gay. Then he goes on to play victim calling them bullies, sorry Carrie but your probably a billionaire, if you especially a comedian can't take it. You are weak and need to grow a spine. You make a mockery of yourself Carrie when you do this.

Love the fact that people are selling Jim Carrey memorabilia o E-Bay so they can buy an Assault Weapon with the proceeds.

Okay let me get this straight... Jimmy decides to make a movie mocking gun owners and rural America and gets some much deserved criticism for it. Talk about calling the kettle black. I hope Jimmy is prepared to accept the fact that only half of the U.S. market will be interested in his future cinematic projects. Talking out your rear end just doesn't sell like it used too.

    NRA Playbook:

Step 1 – Hurle personal insults at anyone that does not agree that every man, women and child must openly carry a gun or assault rifle.

Step 2 through 200 – Pretty much the same as Step 1.

NRA always uses the excuse that “Guns don’t kill, people do”; and in the same breath tell you they firmly stand behind the virtues of individual responsibility in owning a firearm. Then please, NRA members, take responsibility for Newtown because while you did not pull the trigger, you are responsible for putting the weapons in the hands of the killer who did; as well as weapons only the military should have for all the drug cartels, gangs, criminals and crazies across this country. You (NRA) are responsible for flooding our street with assault weapons, and then claim only criminals would have guns if yours were taken away. Take responsibility for owning handguns and don’t complain about news papers that publish publicly available information about that fact. For once, take responsibility for what you have done and admit that this country is not a safer place because of the policies you (NRA members) put forward.

The world would be a better place if all of the Hollywood crowd would keep their mouth shut except when they are on the set.
