Carrey calls conservative media critics 'bullies'

(CNN) - Jim Carrey's video mocking the late actor and National Rifle Association President Charlton Heston didn't please some conservatives - not that Carrey himself minds.

The video, a spoof version of the old comedy show "Hee Haw," featured Carrey playing both Heston and the leader of a country-western group, mocking Heston's declaration that gun control advocates would have to pry his firearms "from my cold, dead hands"

Conservative pundits claimed Carrey was inappropriately denigrating Heston, who died in 2008. Taking particular aim at, presumably, Fox News - the spelling below is his - Carrey responded to the critics Friday.

"In my opinion Fux News is a last resort for kinda-sorta-almost-journalists whose options have been severely limited by their extreme and intolerant views; a media colostomy bag that has begun to burst at the seams and should be emptied before it becomes a public health issue," Carrey wrote in a statement.

"I sincerely believe that in time, good people will lose patience with the petty and poisonous behavior of these bullies and Fux News will be remembered as nothing more than a giant culture fart that no amount of Garlique could cure," he continued.

Heston, who died in 2008, rose to fame as an actor in movies like "The Ten Commandments" and "Ben-Hur." Later in life, however, he turned his attention to political advocacy, eventually becoming the president of the National Rifle Association from 1998-2003.

Carrey starred in movies like "Ace Ventura Pet Detective" and "The Mask." He actively argues his case for gun control on Twitter @JimCarrey.

A spokeswoman for Fox News did not respond to a request for comment.

I feel so much better now that I have cleaned out every Jim Carrey movie I owned from my collection and threw them all in my burning barrel out back.
There is no fool like an old fool.

I'll not pay any money for any endeavor (DVD, movie, etc) associated with this man. Actors should keep to their acting and stay out of things that are merely their opinion and worth no more than yours or mine. His personal opinion on world and national affairs are just that. Opinions,

Jim Carrey's message is absolutely on target. His method of delivering that message was childish.

Heston and Carrey are good at providing entertainment that feeds our subconscious needs according to finely crafted campaigns that alternately loosen or strengthen our morals and resolve, encouraging us to part with our hard earned dollars, our freedoms and common sense as the dualists see fit.

    WAAAAAH! WAAAAAH! WAAAAAH!

Apparently, he feels he can dish it out, but doesn't have to take it.

When he should have been apologizing for making fun of a dead person, he instead whines when people call him on his inappropriate behavior. Typical liberal, dumb and dumber.

jim carrey is a depressed hollyweird liberal high school dropout, who like most hollyweird liberals tend to use the first amendment to try to destroy the second. he does not have a prayer of ever having the status of Charlton Heston or the character. at the present time we are plagued with liberal loud mouthed imported fools attacking the long held freedoms of this country.

I never liked Carey, always found him a bit of a jerk, but now, having read his comments about Fux news, he has made a convert of me to his talent!
    Go Carey! :)

Way to go Jim! Fox news needs to stay out of politics and start objectively presenting the news like the other networks do! Some of those blondes they have on there are pretty scary, as well as the others.

I'm not a Charlton Heston fan, but Jim Carrey's attempt at political humor sucks. He has has outlived his usefulness, and is now a has been. His movies suck, and no-one is interested in his failed political humor. Go back to "in Living Color" or "Ace Venture" because you suck now

I thought liberals were "tolerant". HAHA! They are tolerant as long as you agree with them. Otherwise, they are angry and hateful and spew rude and insulting comments about those who disagree with them, a la those made by Carrey in this article.

And mocking a dead guy is classy. Carrey was already box office poison, now he's just desperate to do anything to get his name and face out there. You, Jim Carrey, are a pathetic loser.

That's the pot calling the kettle black. Carrey is the bully here, and his tirade and stupid shenanigans only prove he is desperate to resuurect a dead career. His hateful, xenophobic and paranoid message, while taking on people who cannot defend themseleves, is absoluteley mind-blowing. Heston was a firm believer in cvil rights and marched with MLK, so Carrey, get a life.

I don't understand people's interest in entertainers options. When they are no more educated or informed then any other person in this country. It is just a pitty that the news reports this stuff as if it has any importance. When I look at most celebrities lives they do not seem to be as well balanced as you average American.

Normal People Live Normal Lives. Rubber Face Comedian Jim Carrey spent who knows how many hours in front of a mirror practicing and perfecting his various Ruber-Faces for effect on camera. To each his own Jim. Welcome to Normal America

the main issue I have with "conservative media" is that they are not news, just opinions and propaganda. they are at best like a broken clock, right twice a day and the rest of the time wrong.
