Liz Cheney: Obama 'most radical' ever in Oval Office

(CNN) - Republicans need to move past last year's disappointing election before President Barack Obama drives the country to its demise, Liz Cheney, the daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney, wrote in an op-ed published Friday in the Wall Street Journal.

"It is time for Republicans to get over their loss in 2012. We are all that stands between this president's policies and a damaged and diminished America," she wrote. "It is time to get back in the fight."

Cheney, who chairs a nonprofit on national security and education called Keep America Safe, is rumored to be considering a U.S. Senate bid from Wyoming.

"And I do mean fight," she continued in the op-ed. "Republicans are being counseled to move the party to the left, but in my experience, those who advocate more liberal policies for the GOP are wrongheaded or Democrats, or both."

Since the November presidential loss, the Republican Party has undergone major introspection and a formal review by the Republican National Committee over how the GOP can rebrand itself and expand its outreach. The RNC concluded in a new report earlier this month that the party needed to retool its messaging strategy and better communicate its ideas to wider audiences.

Others in the party have also called for change. Karl Rove, former top political adviser to President George W. Bush, created a new group that's aimed to help electable candidates easily sail through Republican primaries in 2014.

Some have interpreted the recent calls for a change as a need to move the party more to the center. Tea party conservatives have especially taken issue with Rove's initiative, which they perceive as a move to push their voices out of the party.

In her op-ed Friday, Cheney cautioned against the party moving too far to the middle.

"You can be sure that President Obama would welcome an America in which the Republican Party is preoccupied with remaking itself into a watered-down version of the Democrat," she wrote.

After ticking off a number of the president's policies that she considers destructive–"Obama is the most radical man ever to occupy the Oval Office"–Cheney urged her fellow Republicans to fight back strong.

"Now is the time to pick ourselves up, brush ourselves off, and man the barricades for freedom," she said.

@john bernstein "Yes obama is extremely radical he gave us sixteen trillion dollars in debt"

No, a large protion of that came from two unfunded wars (to the tune of 3 trillion dolllars and a decade of unfunded tax cuts). Onama does bear some responsibility, but you overlooked an important piece of the picture. Do your homework before you post.

obama also owns record high unemployment, record high deficts, record high debt, record high food stamp enrollment, record high golf outings, record high vacations, record high celebrity events,....

No, because he was paying for the debt racked up by Mr. Cheney and his boss, and he chose not to do his expenditures off the books, like Mr. Cheney and his boss chose to: Remember what Cheney said : " Deficits don't matter". I guess they really did not, to him.

Why is it that the GOP radicals ALWAYS want to start a war? If not abroad, then here on our own soil and among our own people? If not with guns and bombs, then with divisive language?

If we just all got along, they really wouldn't be happy.

    Humm,
I think the Economy is improving albit at a Snail's Pace. Of course the problem with that is the Liberal's are spending it at least twice the pace. So it does present a problem. You can keep voting the Big Spenders into Office and they can promise you the moon. After 75 Plus years it appears the Liars are winning. Except for the Economy. The Bill is overdue and guess who is going to pay it.

Obama promised to "fundamentally transform" the country, and he has.

He has changed our way of thinking about what high unemployment was. We used to think that anything above 5-6% unemployment was bad. Now we have changed to accept 7-8% as normal unemployment.

He has changed our way of thinking about what high deficits are. We used to think that anything above $100-$200 BILLION was bad. Now we have changed to accept ONE TRILLION as a normal deficit.

He has changed our way of thinking about what high debt was. We used to think that $10 trillion in debt was bad. Now we have changed to accept $17 TRILLION and eventually $22 TRILLION as not a problem. (and Obama called Bush unpatriotic for running up debt!).

He has changed our way of thinking about food stamps. We used to think that getting government food stamps was a bad sign. Now almost 50 million Americans get them costing over $70 BILLION a year and we jump for joy as more get them.

Coming from someone whose father is a liar and as close to a war-criminal as is possible, Liz Cheney's comments have no weight or relevance.

The debt was at 10 trillion before Obama walked in the door of the White House, and a large chunk of the 6 trillion in debt since Obama has taken office is because of the wars and tax breaks passed by Bush. Another large contributor to the debt under Obama was the spending on the stimulas package and unemployment benefits caused by the financial colapse, which again happened before Obama walked throught the door. Republicans who complain that Democrats do nothing but blame Bush need to realize alot of it fact based blame.

Chenney should be in jail. His daughter is like her father useless. I don't know why they keep getting an outlet to express their Idea's. Bush/Chenney just about destroyed the country financially and these fools think that by blaming Mr. Obama that we will forget about what they did, no we won't that is why we voted Mr. Obama back in office, we don't believe you lies. Who really care's what Chennys daughter thinks, she is an absolute nobody. She shouldn't even be allowed to mention the name of a U.S. president after the total disaster that her father was. She shoudl smack her father for tarnishing the Chenney name forever.

Cheney should be in jail for life, for his part in the mass murder of 3000 Americans.

Why did Cheney schedule 19 war games on the morning of 9/11, mimicking exactly what happened that morning, and preventing the USAF from intercepting the rogue planes?

Why did Cheney alter the NORAD-FAA scramble protocol to require PERMISSION from the Defense Sec. (Rumsfeld) for F-15/F-16 pilots to intercept rogue or off-course planes? Without that deliberate alteration, the 9/11 commandeered planes would have been quickly intercepted by the military.

Why did Cheney tell Norman Mineta (Transportation Sec) that "the orders still stand" when he was questioned by a young official about a plane quickly approaching the Pentagon? These orders were clearly NOT to shoot down AA77, because it reached its intended target.

Knowing that a plane was about to hit the Pentagon, Cheney failed to relay a warning to those inside. 184 were killed on account of Cheney's criminality.

Why did Cheney "hold Bush's hand", and insist the President and Vice President appear together, when interviewed by the so-called 9/11 Commission, with no cameras, no transcripts, no unscreened questions and no recordings"?

Cheney was a member of the PNAC which CALLED for an event like 9/11, in order to effect an agenda which had been planned since the mid 1990s.

Cheney has some questions to answer, and nobody from the corporate weasel "Lamestream" media has yet dared to ask him.
