RNC chair suggests Democrats support infanticide through Planned Parenthood

(CNN) – Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus linked the women's health provider Planned Parenthood to the killing of newborn children in an op-ed article published Wednesday on the conservative website RedState.com.

His article - under the headline "Media Covers up Democrat-Backed Planned Parenthood's Support for Infanticide" - blasted the media for not covering the recent testimony of a Planned Parenthood representative in Florida, who provided veiled responses to questions from state lawmakers on what should happen to a baby born after a botched abortion.

"That decision should be between the patient and the health care provider," the Planned Parenthood representative, Alisa LaPolt Snow, said during her testimony. Priebus does include a section of the back-and-forth where Snow acknowledges "[t]hat's a very good question. I really don't know how to answer that."

"Not once in her testimony did the Planned Parenthood representative say the newborn baby has a right to life," Priebus wrote in his opinion piece. "Not once did she say anyone has a duty to care for the child. Whether the living, breathing child survives is up to the adults in the room because, as we now know, Planned Parenthood doesn't believe the baby has rights."

In a statement, Planned Parenthood wrote the lawmakers in Florida were inquiring about a "vague set of extremely unlikely and highly unusual medical circumstances."

"Medical guidelines and ethics already compel physicians facing life-threatening circumstances to respond, and Planned Parenthood physicians provide high-quality medical care and adhere to the most rigorous professional standards, including providing emergency care," the group wrote. "In the extremely unlikely event that the scenario presented by the panel of legislators should happen, of course Planned Parenthood would provide appropriate care to both the woman and the infant."

Long the focus of Republican ire, federal funding for Planned Parenthood arose during the 2012 presidential election when GOP nominee Mitt Romney vowed to "get rid" of the organization during an interview with a local television reporter in St. Louis.

That remark prompted an angry response from Democrats, who claimed Romney was aiming to eliminate an important source of women's health care – including mammograms and cervical cancer screenings.

In his article, Priebus recalled the Planned Parenthood barbs from last year's race, and said Democrats – including President Barack Obama, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, and Democratic National Committee chairwoman Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz - should be held accountable for their support of the organization.

"In the last election, Republicans were repeatedly asked about whether they supported cutting funding to Planned Parenthood. It's time Democrats are asked whether they still support funding an organization that refuses to care for a newborn," he wrote.

First I believe abortion is a neccesary evil. But late term abortion ..unless it is to save the mother is wrong. Obama believes that it is ok to kill a baby that survives a botched abortion and sorry if you believe that then you are sick. As Margaret Sanger she was a bigot you put Planned Parenthood in poorer neighborhoods (this is fact) .. and she believed in Eugenics .. just like a man in Germany in the '40s .. so all you dems should really look into actual facts and not what your "good" liberal Professors tell you. and really the GOP is racist .. I guess Herman Cain, Allen West and Dr Ben Carson would disagree

They didn't address the issue of an abortion being interrupted by an invasion of flying saucers either. These GOPers are really there to help us. ( Tongue in cheek for those who don't understand sarcasm )

Pretty simple – intentionally killing unborn babies is infanticide.

Yeah, however according to rethug-think, once they're born, all bets are off. Love the zygote/hate the human being it becomes.

"So Democrats claiming that Republicans want to put black people back in the fields and women to be barefooted and kept in the kitchen is perfectly acceptable rhetoric but mentioning that abortion is killing a child is somehow taking rhetoric too far seems laughable."

Rinsed Penis did not simply state that "abortion is killing a child." In fact, he was not talking about abortion which is ending a pregnancy. Rather, what he was doing was accusing Democrats of supporting killing children that survive after an abortion has been completed by removing the fetus from the womb. There's a huge difference and everyone with a brain in their noggin knows it. Pretending there's no difference is nothing more than insisting on an absurdity beacuse you knwo there's enough morons out there who will buy into it.

Can the repugs tells us what is the difference between an abortion and sending our men and women to a needless lie of a war looking for WMDs that the shrub's administration knew was a lie?
Why aren't he and his minions in jail?

All I can say is go ahead and outlaw abortion, it will be your daughters dying from shoving coat hangers and vacuums up their hoo hoos, because you don't want to be embarrassed that your unmarried teen daughters have gotten knocked up. I went to a mixed high school back in the 80s and there were plenty of teen pregnancies. The black girls had their babies, it was the white ones that would leave school for a couple weeks then come back and weren't pregnant......

So go ahead GOP, it'll be your daughters affected the most.....

Does this guy know how to do more than look for ways to spout hysterical rhetoric? We need to get fools like this out of office and stop catering to the lunatic fringe.

Bear; Good point, if I ever get elected, my bill to remove abortion from planned parenthood will include a mandate to allow life insurance on a fetus. Planned parenthood should be just what it says, there needs to be a child to be a parent and enjoy parenthood. #ProLife

You know, Margaret Sanger may have been a racist (as were many more people in her time), but I don't think it really makes any difference at this point. Judge Planned Parenthood for what they are today (in my opinion, a valuable health service), not for what their founder thought 80 or 90 years ago.

The GOP’s reformation has come to an end. They are truly the party of NO...NO change. It was obvious that Reinces dog and pony show of change was phony. These people will never change. They do not deserve a second chance...vote'em out 2014/2016

And only people who are remarkably ignorant think there's no choice when a non-viable premature fetus (pre 22 weeks) comes out breathing – skin so thin it tears at the drop of a hat, no chance for survival, it's cruelty to impose torturous medical interventions when there is no chance. There is a choice, and if the parents don't wish the baby tortured for no reason, it should not be done.
    ----–

So now trying to save the life of an infant is "torture"??? You do know that babies as small as a pound or two have survived to live normal lives, don't you? And no person, parent or not, has the power to sentence another to death for whatever reason. You are living proof that this abomination is probably happening far more than people are willing to admit.

If all women, and men, had access to the latest birth control methodologies and information the abortion problem would vanish.

Even though I fully support the right to life, you would think that the GOP would address some of the other problems facing children in this country instead of beating the same old drum. Their policies support the starvation of children. 16 million children go hungry every day in this country and the GOP can be held responsible. They want to see an end to all social programs while supporting the waste in military spending that has been going on since the end of WWII. They wouldn't know a new idea if it bit them in the ass.

The GOP still just doesnt get it. NO ONE is PRO-abortion. And the GOP is NOT pro-LIFE. The GOP is anti-abortion. But the fact is... EVERYONE is anti-abortion! What Dems are is PRO-Get Govt Out of My Uterus. The GOP is NO interest in ending abortion. They could end abortion TODAY but allowing ex education and birth control. But they won't.Meanwhile people see the GOP's calls for torture, end of healthcare for the poor, and the starting of wars.
There's nothing Pro LIFE about the GOP.

The Republican desperation is so clear. This is a house that is collapsing. The country is evolving and they are stuck in old, bigoted ways of thinking. But be careful, people can get mean when they're on their way to obsolescence.

People like goblackhawks have no clue what they are talking about (but what do we expect when they just parrot talking points given to them by the GOP factions that are convinced that they, and only they, have the right to decide what a woman can do with her own body).

For those criticizing Margaret Sanger, I sure hope you don't drive a Ford product. Henry Ford was a notorious anti-Semite. I think we should ban Ford Motor Co. and confiscate all Ford automobiles!

Maybe repubs should consider all the children around the world they have murdered, and are murdering via their wars. Killing is killing, doesn't matter what it is for. If you support one reason then you might as well support all reasons. Personally, I don't believe in abortion, but I also don't think it is really wrong as long as it is aborted before the kid has developed a functioning brain, one that can learn. Cause until that brain can actually work, it is not a person, it is simply tissue developing into a person.

Aborting black babies, which is the great majority of what Planned Parenthood does and was created for, is not killing babies. It's called crime fighting.

The GOP has only three priorities:ban abortion, an end to all social programs and keep wasting money on the military.
