RNC chair suggests Democrats support infanticide through Planned Parenthood

(CNN) – Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus linked the women's health provider Planned Parenthood to the killing of newborn children in an op-ed article published Wednesday on the conservative website RedState.com.

His article – under the headline "Media Covers up Democrat-Backed Planned Parenthood's Support for Infanticide" - blasted the media for not covering the recent testimony of a Planned Parenthood representative in Florida, who provided veiled responses to questions from state lawmakers on what should happen to a baby born after a botched abortion.

"That decision should be between the patient and the health care provider," the Planned Parenthood representative, Alisa LaPolt Snow, said during her testimony. Priebus does include a section of the back-and-forth where Snow acknowledges "[t]hat's a very good question. I really don't know how to answer that."

"Not once in her testimony did the Planned Parenthood representative say the newborn baby has a right to life," Priebus wrote in his opinion piece. "Not once did she say anyone has a duty to care for the child. Whether the living, breathing child survives is up to the adults in the room because, as we now know, Planned Parenthood doesn't believe the baby has rights."

In a statement, Planned Parenthood wrote the lawmakers in Florida were inquiring about a "vague set of extremely unlikely and highly unusual medical circumstances."

"Medical guidelines and ethics already compel physicians facing life-threatening circumstances to respond, and Planned Parenthood physicians provide high-quality medical care and adhere to the most rigorous professional standards, including providing emergency care," the group wrote. "In the extremely unlikely event that the scenario presented by the panel of legislators should happen, of course Planned Parenthood would provide appropriate care to both the woman and the infant."

Long the focus of Republican ire, federal funding for Planned Parenthood arose during the 2012 presidential election when GOP nominee Mitt Romney vowed to "get rid" of the organization during an interview with a local television reporter in St. Louis.

That remark prompted an angry response from Democrats, who claimed Romney was aiming to eliminate an important source of women's health care – including mammograms and cervical cancer screenings.

In his article, Priebus recalled the Planned Parenthood barbs from last year's race, and said Democrats – including President Barack Obama, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, and Democratic National Committee chairwoman Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz - should be held accountable for their support of the organization.

"In the last election, Republicans were repeatedly asked about whether they supported cutting funding to Planned Parenthood. It's time Democrats are asked whether they still support funding an organization that refuses to care for a newborn," he wrote.

Interesting that nobody here Is talking about the actual topic of the article. The Planned Parenthood representative clearly believed it's okay to murder an infant who is the survivor of a botched abortion. What's next? Is it going to be legal to kill an infant up to 24 hours of age, 3 months of age, 6 months of age? The fact is if every Infant were born with the ability to talk their native language there would be no abortion because they would all come out begging for their lives. Infants are discriminated against simply because they cannot talk yet.

Planned Parenthood is a disgusting, despicable organization founded by a notorious racist. No wonder so many liberals support them.

Boomer, your description of reality is the most honest and basis for the most practical discussion I have seen posted on the abortion debate. We all love to paint this as 100% one way or the other, but as you have shown, both views have flaws. My own view is that we mistakenly place life over quality of life in this country.

Support infanticide? "support funding an organization that refuses to care for a newborn"? Then stop supporting the GOP, because the last I heard they do not support programs that provide food, healthcare, preschool education etc. for children who's families cannot afford to support them. They cut funds that support their lives and call themselves "pro-life"? If you want to follow the bible about abortion, then follow it all the way – do what Jesus would have done for the poor children of this country. This debate is not about punishing women, which is all they seem to care about.

First – people, women AND men, need to be responsible for their actions. That means the government doesn't need to be subsidizing birth control or abortions. Second, we as a decent society cannot let children be hungry or go without health care. However, that does not mean that we should allow these parents to continue to take a ride on the taxpayers' buck. A welfare society does not empower anyone except those who abuse the system. We cannot continue to make it easy to not work. I know so many people who sat on their butts collecting unemployment for two years before they made the slightest real effort to get a job. It made me angry because they could have been out there like other folks working for less pay or even working two jobs to provide for their family if necessary. You do what you have to do, you don't just sit back and keep taking.

No Infanticide is when the NRA and the GOP decide that babies are only good for target practice, starvation, and medical neglect

So, Dave in Houston, how much of a tax increase are you willing to pay to take care of all these unwanted babies?

Planned parenthood is mostly about helping women who don't have money to have mammogram and pap smear tests and other clinical help. Your idiot kyl, who after throwing numbers out like the fake from MN, had to retract his 98% abortion numbers becaue that I what he "thought" as if any of you have a brain to think.
Not just PP but the country should sue these morons out of office!

Well, there goes the 2016 elections! Crap like this will give it to the Democrats! These Republicans don't bat an eye about the lives of us humans (and animals) already here. We are much to smart to fall for this garbage.

Wasn't a prominent republican just recently saying that the party had to stop the "stupid talk" if it wants to win elections? Well, Forrest Gump said it all, "stupid is as stupid does."

Just another example of the extreme rhetoric and policies of the 'tea party' led republican party. Hopefully, 2014 will bring an end to the party being held hostige by the 'crazies.'

For those of us who remember when abortions were illegal, the possibility of going back to that gives me the willies. Those were the days of hideous infections and mutilations done by untrained doctors. Some of the damage done by them led to sterility, making it impossible for the girls and women to later have children. But that wasn't the worst of it. Girls were trying to perform abortions themselves, using knitting needles and clothes hangers. I knew one girl who almost lost her life from a knitting needle. She was found bleeding to death in the hallway of her home. Luckily, she made it through. Many did not. Why in the world would people want to bring all that back? Making abortions illegal does not make abortions go away – just makes them more dangerous.

Keep riding that anti-woman horse to another election defeat in 2014, Priebus. The RNC still doesn't get it. Taking a hard line against women's reproductive rights only wins votes among their radicalized base.

"Obama as a SEN voted that it is ok to kill a baby that survives a botched abortion"

That is a blatant and disgusting lie and no legislation has EVER come to the Senate floor that would even remotely allow for any senator to have voted in that manner.

The answer to this issue is simple. Abortions should be allowed ONLY up until the time the baby can survive outside of the womb using currently available medical technology. Babies should be allowed the same life saving technology as the elderly, all available means.

Abortion as a means of birth control MUST BE BANNED. There are PLENTY of highly effective and readily available birth prevention drugs and devices. Abortion should NOT be considered one of them. If you support abortion on demand then you ARE supporting INFANTICIDE. Yes, that is the truth you lefties refuse to accept. Stop the baby killing, stop the murder of our most innocent citizens.

To the small minded ultra right, it is possible to be against abortion, yet not force your beliefs on others with laws. I do not understand how the party of the "Christians" refuse to talk about gun control, but want to force their beliefs on others in this way. Also, for all the Fundamentalist Christians out there that believe in an Age of Accountability... You guys should be FOR abortion. Wouldn't it be better to sacrifice a few years on this planet than to spend an eternity in Hell? That is unless the AoA is just something you made up to make God not seem like a heartless monster for sending a child to Hell. For the record, I am an Agnostic (look it up if you don't know what it means, I'll wait............) who does not like abortion as a convenience, but anyone who would force a woman to have a baby she is not prepared to raise MUST be willing to accept that baby and raise it, anyone who is not willing to do that, but willing to force a law on someone is colossal PoS (look that one up too...). Anyone who votes for a law banning abortions needs to be put on a list to foster/adopt a child that would have been aborted. Also keep in mind that a mother that is not ready to have a baby, but is forced to will probably resent the child, resulting in psychological damage, which could lead that person to commit acts of violence when older... possibly with an easily obtainable firearm the anti-abortion folks seem to enjoy.

Nowhere in this article do I see any evidence of actual infanticide.

All I can gather from this is that the accusations are being thrown out because of testimony from someone involved in the system under examination from a bunch of loons.
