RNC chair suggests Democrats support infanticide through Planned Parenthood

(CNN) – Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus linked the women's health provider Planned Parenthood to the killing of newborn children in an op-ed article published Wednesday on the conservative website RedState.com.

His article - under the headline "Media Covers up Democrat-Backed Planned Parenthood's Support for Infanticide" - blasted the media for not covering the recent testimony of a Planned Parenthood representative in Florida, who provided veiled responses to questions from state lawmakers on what should happen to a baby born after a botched abortion.

"That decision should be between the patient and the health care provider," the Planned Parenthood representative, Alisa LaPolt Snow, said during her testimony. Priebus does include a section of the back-and-forth where Snow acknowledges "[t]hat's a very good question. I really don't know how to answer that."

"Not once in her testimony did the Planned Parenthood representative say the newborn baby has a right to life," Priebus wrote in his opinion piece. "Not once did she say anyone has a duty to care for the child. Whether the living, breathing child survives is up to the adults in the room because, as we now know, Planned Parenthood doesn't believe the baby has rights."

In a statement, Planned Parenthood wrote the lawmakers in Florida were inquiring about a "vague set of extremely unlikely and highly unusual medical circumstances."

"Medical guidelines and ethics already compel physicians facing life-threatening circumstances to respond, and Planned Parenthood physicians provide high-quality medical care and adhere to the most rigorous professional standards, including providing emergency care," the group wrote. "In the extremely unlikely event that the scenario presented by the panel of legislators should happen, of course Planned Parenthood would provide appropriate care to both the woman and the infant."

Long the focus of Republican ire, federal funding for Planned Parenthood arose during the 2012 presidential election when GOP nominee Mitt Romney vowed to "get rid" of the organization during an interview with a local television reporter in St. Louis.

That remark prompted an angry response from Democrats, who claimed Romney was aiming to eliminate an important source of women's health care – including mammograms and cervical cancer screenings.

In his article, Priebus recalled the Planned Parenthood barbs from last year's race, and said Democrats – including President Barack Obama, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, and Democratic National Committee chairwoman Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz - should be held accountable for their support of the organization.

"In the last election, Republicans were repeatedly asked about whether they supported cutting funding to Planned Parenthood. It's time Democrats are asked whether they still support funding an organization that refuses to care for a newborn," he wrote.

You know, Mr. Priebus, I'm going to go out on a limb here and give YOU my first hand account of Planned Parenthood and how it affected (and helped) me at the young age of 18. I was unmarried and pregnant ... my pregnancy confirmed through my local Planned Parenthood office.

The nurse who treated me was nothing but kindness. She counseled me to talk to my parents, which I did. And although legal abortions were still in the infancy stage of national passage, never once was the word "abortion" mentioned. I visited with this wonderful woman many times throughout that first pregnancy of mine. My daughter is now 40 years old, with a beautiful family of her own.

I have since, and will always, support Planned Parenthood and ALL of the services it provides. Too many women have no where to turn to in this world of finger pointing and shame induced nonsense. I suspect there are a great many women such as myself who have benefited from Planned Parenthood. Each with their own story to tell ... their own decisions to make.

To mock these kind and caring folks is beyond contempt.

So Democrats claiming that Republicans want to put black people back in the fields and women to be barefooted and kept in the kitchen is perfectly acceptable rhetoric but mentioning that abortion is killing a child is somehow taking rhetoric too far seems laughable.

If life begins at conception, then Republicans should pass law that you can purchase Life Insurance immediately upon finding out. See what the big contributors from the Insurance Industry have to say.

Any word from the GOP about the thousands killed unnecessarily in GWB's phony wars yet???
    -–
you mean the wars democrats voted to get into? not sure what this topic has to do with babies being allowed to die on the table. it sounds like you are ok with that. so are you?

That's quite the leap in logic there – of course I am against babies being allowed to die like this. I am also against the Republicans cherry-picking when they take a pro-life stance – they support you until you're born then they dump you – they will send you off as cannon fodder in their fake wars without a second thought.

"If my 15-year-old came home with the seed of ANY schoolmate, the first order of business would not be an abortion... it would be a visit to the authorities for a statutory charge... capeesh?"

Luckily, the police department is on the way to PP, eh?

Ok Fair is Fair. Lets say your daughter, god forbid is raped at the age 15. You then charge the boy who did it, who is also 15. he goes to jail for a year or two. Cus lets face it that's what will most likely happen. Then he gets out. He then sues you for custody. Cus I bet you live in one of the 29 states where a rapist can sue for custody of their child.

As a fiscal conservative – I don't really get upset about abortions or gay marriage – but I think it's kind of funny that the person who created planned parent hood Margaret Sanger was the biggest racist, and bigot and the entire reason planned parenthood was formed was to create"More children from the fit, less from the unfit - that is the chief aim of birth control." Birth Control Review, May 1919, p. 12. She was trying to reduce the number of blacks and others she felt were "unfit". Do the research, read the books this women was a monster. And yet the dems who accuse the republicans of being racist support her programs 100%.

Margaret Sanger the founder of this execrable organization believed (like Hitler) in eugenics. (a planned superior (more evolved) human race. She disparaged poor people and colored people. Check out the FACTS 2/3rds of abortions are on blacks. (who only make up 15% of the population???? Planned parent hood is actually working exactly according to their plan???? Why on earth doesn't somebody STOP them.

They are showing their stupidity again (Planed Parenthood ) do not do abortions "it's the doctors" so ask them. Asking the so called worker this question is like asking a father who was at work if his kid passed gas at school that day.

Abortion legislation is never about "life." Conservatives and other hypocrites on this forum could care less about human life whether fetus or adult. It's really about control; the ability of one group to exert control over others using self righteous religious beliefs to justify their actions. The same hypocrites here who claim to treasure life so dearly, are more than happy to slaughter countless men, women and yes, babies, when it suits their purpose. They prove it every day.

Isn't it ironic that the lefties were the ones shouting "Baby Killer!" at our troops returning from Viet Nam

    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Funny how the tighty righties accuse "lefties" but totally give a pass to veterans of other wars who called troops returning from Vietnam "hippy losers" and refused to permit them to join the VFW. True story. That's why AMVets was formed. Hey CNN, you got the stones to print THIS FACT? Nah, didn't think so.

I'd like some R to explain to me why he thinks a sperm is not alive. If it is alive, then life begins before conception, and he should be calling for laws against killing them. Arrest every teenaged boy in the country!
