Jobs report: Hiring slows severely in March

New York (CNNMoney) – Hiring slowed sharply in March, with the economy adding only 88,000 jobs, the lowest monthly gain since last June.

The unemployment rate slipped to 7.6%, according to a Labor Department report released Friday. But it's not good news: It's because nearly 500,000 people dropped out of the labor market.

Well how do you like that? A sluggist jobs report once again brings out the anti-Obama cheerleaders clapping their hands in glee.

Hey, John Boehner, keep focussed ... Jobs! Jobs! Jobs! buddy. Not Abortion! Abortion! Abortion!

Score one for the Republicans and their Sequester Bill- they may yet crash the economy again!

And what have THEY (the rethugs) done to assist in the situation? They have sat on their hands and looked stupid. Where is their follow-through on THEIR promises of JOBs, JOBS, JOBS? We are still waiting...

Gleaned this from another message thread. It bears repeating – often.

Indeed it is. In this universe, things happen for a reason and those reasons don't change just because you wish it weren't true. Glad you finally accept that reality. You've done some real growing today.

We got hit by the one-two punch of the 2% increase in payroll taxes and the realization of businesses of the impacts of Obamacare. Don't even try to blame this on sequester cuts, government payrolls were only down very slightly.

Sure, and the Rights' Sequester disaster had no effect right? I wish you guys would play the game with just a wee bit of reality for a change. This fantasy stuff is getting old.

Hey Rudy... gonna blame this on Hurricane Sandy too?

The only one's casting blame is the right wing, certainly not me. The fact of the matter is that unemployment seems to have dropped. We can still expect to see a late spring, early summer drop in unemployment. That has been the pattern for three years running.

You should know as well as do that the Northeast is sorely beaten and battered. Just this week they partially re-opened that subway station that was frequently shown on the news being flooded, and it still needs $500 million more repair work done. Many businesses were

I'm sure the glue sniffing Obama sheep will be defending Obama. We all know that if Bush was presidentow, he would be held accountable. Oh well, let's go ahead and blame Bush anyway. It's what we do.

If BushCo. got that same level of accountability- they'd'be in jail. Just more fantasy from the Right here today.

You're right. 500,000 stopped looking. At this rate, "unemployment" will be down to 3% in no time.

BTW, how silly does your GOP/Teatroll apologist article look now, CNN? "Oooooh, everyone should believe the sequester's not so bad"...ha! Spoke to soon, eh?
    ----------------------------------------------–
Yep. They jumped the gun once again. I just said the other day we haven't seen the adverse of effects of sequester yet, and BOOM, here it is! That slogan "most trusted name in news" is laughable at this point.

How's that "Red State America" working out for your party? Underemployed and unemployed ... one state at a time. My guess is 500,000 more "takers" ought to make John Boehner jump for joy. It's not as if he has spent much effort coming up with a plan ... any plan ... for true job growth. Quite the contrary. He's been too busy kissing corporate butt. Guess this is what obstruction really looks like. Stop the job growth while pointing fingers at "that one". The corporate CEOs wouldn't have any other way.

The Labor Force Participation Rate has dropped 63.3%, the lowest since May 1979. This is in Jimmy Carter territory. I am scared to look at U-6.
