Cheney to GOP leaders: ‘We’re in deep doo doo’ on North Korea

(CNN) – Republican leaders in Congress received a dire warning on Tuesday from former Vice President Dick Cheney on the ongoing crisis in North Korea.

“We’re in deep doo doo,” Cheney told lawmakers, according to a GOP leadership aide.

Cheney added the current North Korean leader, Kim Jong Un, is unpredictable and doesn't share the United States worldview.

One lawmaker present at the session, Rep. Steve Southerland of Florida, said Cheney wore a cowboy hat and "looked really good, spoke really clearly, lucidly.”

“It was nice to see him doing well,” Southerland said, noting the last time Cheney was on Capitol Hill he "didn’t look good – very frail, but in this meeting he looked great."

Cheney, 72, underwent a successful heart transplant in 2012 after a series of heart attacks over many years.

Southerland said Cheney spent about 10 minutes in the GOP leadership meeting Tuesday, and didn't give any specific policy recommendations or critiques of how the Obama administration is handling the situation in North Korea.

Cheney talked about the North Korean leader, Southerland said, and shared some of his history dealing with Saddam Hussein, noting "you never know what they're thinking."

Southerland, summarizing the former vice president’s remarks, said Cheney advised not to “eliminate any possibility.”

“Here's a young guy we don't know very much about – have very little intel on him, so we just need to make sure that we don't assume why he's doing what he's doing because he could be doing what he's doing for any number of reasons,” Southerland recalled Cheney saying.

Cheney also dropped by the weekly House GOP whip meeting at the invitation of Rep. Kevin McCarthy.

Cheney himself is a former House Republican whip.

"Whip McCarthy invited Vice President Cheney to discuss the ongoing situation on the Korean Peninsula with members of our whip team. We appreciate the vice president for sharing his insight and experience on the matter," a McCarthy aide told CNN.

The aide declined to say whether Cheney suggested any specific course of action on the situation in North Korea during this meeting.

We were in deep doo foo before this point. The voters voted for the ultra-liberal left twice because the Republican leadership refused to compromise on any of it's social stances. It won't matter if N. Korea nukes the U.S., if 90% of the U.S. is killed and destroyed, because the voters today are idiots. They will vote over and over what they hope is the easy answer and each liberal politician is a magical fairy. They may be fairies but they aren't magical, and they sure as hell don't have any thing right including any decisions they've made. It's just the way it is.

After the Iraq Fiasco, his doom and gloom scenario is suspect. While the North Koreans have a nuclear capability, they are still smoke and mirrors. I highly doubt, considering the past history of this criminal regime, that this current and manufactured crisis is nothing more than the North weak in reality, trying to play big stakes poker with only a low pair. If we call the bluff, it would mean a bloody conflict that would lead to the fall of the regime of North Korea. This is not their goal. They could not win without the intervention of China, that would be contrary to their interests.

Oh yeah, Darth Cheney's CLEARLY the guy I'd want to turn to for foreign policy advice. War 1; stopped before he got the guy we were after, then mire us in a 10 year ground game with no exit strategy. War 2; outright lied about the situation, and mired us in a 10 year ground game with no exit strategy. Let's start a list here of the other, oh, 100 foreign policy situations he got wrong.

    We're in deep doo doo.
Please, we're still trying to dig out of deep doo doo, because of Cheney, and his minons. He needs to go fishing, and remain the citizen that he is, he has his 15 minutes of fame, and it was way to long.

Dick is probably hoping that another war starts with North Korea. That way his friends at Halliburton can make another killing (figuratively and literally) by selling more military hardware and related services to the government.

The deep doo doo was when Cheney was in office. Go fishing, go look at your oil stocks, but please stay out of the current administrations and politics. You had your fifteen minutes of fame, and it was extremely costly to America.

This is Cheney's fallacy and misunderstanding; Quote ""Cheney added the current North Korean leader, Kim Jong Un, is unpredictable and doesn't share the United States worldview."" Well The US As an example to the world? Who wants to share our view? Mr. Cheney, you are narrowed minded to think that our government is fit for anybody because it isn't... Especially after 8 years of your rule. On your watch, you lied and preemptively attacked Iraq , and for false reasons...

You instead gave the world a misconception that we are evil. And who can blame the world that every country hates us. You did it yourself by pulling the strings on your Dummy "W". You Mr. Cheney needs to be brought to justice, it is to bad that you are in that elite category that sees no justice. You sickening good for nothing human being.

we should have nuked korea, vietnam and the chinese all the way back to the stone age when we had the chance.
