Cheney to GOP leaders: ‘We’re in deep doo doo’ on North Korea

(CNN) – Republican leaders in Congress received a dire warning on Tuesday from former Vice President Dick Cheney on the ongoing crisis in North Korea.

“We’re in deep doo doo,” Cheney told lawmakers, according to a GOP leadership aide.

Cheney added the current North Korean leader, Kim Jong Un, is unpredictable and doesn't share the United States worldview.

One lawmaker present at the session, Rep. Steve Southerland of Florida, said Cheney wore a cowboy hat and "looked really good, spoke really clearly, lucidly.”

“It was nice to see him doing well,” Southerland said, noting the last time Cheney was on Capitol Hill he "didn’t look good – very frail, but in this meeting he looked great."

Cheney, 72, underwent a successful heart transplant in 2012 after a series of heart attacks over many years.

Southerland said Cheney spent about 10 minutes in the GOP leadership meeting Tuesday, and didn't give any specific policy recommendations or critiques of how the Obama administration is handling the situation in North Korea.

Cheney talked about the North Korean leader, Southerland said, and shared some of his history dealing with Saddam Hussein, noting "you never know what they're thinking."

Southerland, summarizing the former vice president’s remarks, said Cheney advised not to “eliminate any possibility.”

“Here's a young guy we don't know very much about – have very little intel on him, so we just need to make sure that we don't assume why he's doing what he's doing because he could be doing what he's doing for any number of reasons,” Southerland recalled Cheney saying.

Cheney also dropped by the weekly House GOP whip meeting at the invitation of Rep. Kevin McCarthy.

Cheney himself is a former House Republican whip.

"Whip McCarthy invited Vice President Cheney to discuss the ongoing situation on the Korean Peninsula with members of our whip team. We appreciate the vice president for sharing his insight and experience on the matter," a McCarthy aide told CNN.

The aide declined to say whether Cheney suggested any specific course of action on the situation in North Korea during this meeting.

  1. No support

CNN political ticker staff will allow a thousand comments on Dick the weasel Cheney, but put up an article about McCain and they shut down comments after to post because if the negativity. This happens to be the most censored section of CNN, which is pretty ironic considering it is about politics.

Cheney should be in prison for killing 4,500 Service-members and for corruption. Bush should be with him.

This media site deleted my last post because I mentioned their name... I was actually the first to respond to this article not that it really matters!

Basically I stated that this media outlet probably took Cheney's words out of context and that if they could would probably sell information to North Korea if they could!

I am not a fan of Cheney's not even a little but what burns me up is when this media outlet keeps posting stuff that makes us look weak when we are not!

Who cares about North Korea and what they do! Let them try something and find out the hard way that we are not living back in the 1950's! If we play our cards right and take care of North Korea in quick fashion maybe Iran will get the message what it means to mess with the U.S.A. and we can kill two birds with one stone!

North Korea is probably training for a fight with is by watching reruns of M.A.S.H. and think we sit around drinking Vodka out of home made apparatus and wear women's clothing! The reason they think that is also probably because they just got M.A.S.H. on their televisions and think it is the newest show out!

I would love to see them launch their missile and after a 10 second flight watch us intercept it and blow it out of the sky!

We need mature men in Congress right now like the 50"s and 60's. The tea party Republicans were not even born
when real men made real decisions. With a nut like this guy in NK we need a congress that will help the President during these times. Maybe if they acted like old time Legislators we could have had many of the plans that the President wanted to implement to cause growth in this economy. Tea Party members grow up you can't always have it your way!

simple math... they shoot a missile, we take it down. They shoot a missile to the main land, we take it down and disarm the regime in the fast and safest way with the least possible casualties. But, they better think twice, because, we will use are NUKES..............................................................................................................................................................!!

North Korea's like a fly buzzing around you, eventually don't you just get pissed off enough to kill the thing? So why after all this time are we still tolerating this fly?

For all you GW haters, 911 was the result of Carter and Clinton not standing up to terrorists.
Iraqis did see us as liberators but you never got to see the cheering throngs on CNN or the MSM because it did not sit well with their image of what they wanted the world to look like. The only mistake was that we did not occupy Iraq after conquering it. There would be no problem and gas would be under a dollar a gallon.

Uh, does cheney realize it was he and Dubya who failed? Will this guy ever get a clue about how utterly incompetent he was and still is? Studies have proven that incompetent people don't know they are incompetent. Cheney is the perfect poster boy for that.

And who would know more about "doo-doo" than the man who helped create it and spent a career sinking America into it? Personally, I've had enough of this moronic war criminal. RIP, Dick!

Cheney manufactures the doo-doo , then sells the doo-doo to whoever is hapless enough to buy it. Probably has Halliburton sell it back to the Federal government at a 300% markup.

Ol' "Crooked Mouth" Cheney was in a lot of doo-doo during the Bush administration, helping get us into war in Iraq and Afghanistan, and the reasons for invading Iraq was based on nothing but lies. Cheney ought to stuff his mouth shut with some of that doo-doo, because his opinions are meaningless.
