Breaking: Obama makes budget pitch

(CNN) - President Barack Obama said Wednesday his budget proposal for 2014 is a "fiscally responsible blueprint for middle class jobs and growth."

He said the budget is an answer to a debate that he says is waged yearly in Washington between those who want to "reduce deficits at all costs" and those who want to invest in programs that create jobs. With this budget, Obama said, "we can grow the economy and shrink our deficits."

The republican proposal for deficit reduction is more tax cuts for the rich and cuts to the social safety net for the less fortunate. Their budget will put us back into recession. Whatever happened to those JOBS Boehner? i just wonder where were all these deficit hawks from 2000-2008.

Although I disagree with some of the details in his plan, I applaud the president for taking some steps to reduce the deficit and especially for finally recognizing that something needs to be done to control the spiraling costs of entitlements. Those who argue that no change should be made to social security and Medicare are not accepting reality. The president's proposals are timid, baby steps in trying to control these costs, but they are certainly better than pretending that things can continue as is with no consequences.

his "budget" should be : Done in : 5 years – Not 10 years. This country will never make it – 10 years is too long – It's not obama's fault, that we're in a financial mess, that's why people in this country will forever always blame Bush – he's the one who handed Obama the cost of 2 wars – ( unfunded, btw) To be perfectly honest, the debt in this country not only will make us weak, ( in other countries eyes) but by the time 2020 rolls around, the price of a pack of chewing gum will be around 20 bucks.

His OBAMA budget is not perfect but
    a) Reduces budget deficits.
    b) Has prospects of further reducing unemployment.
    c) Has infrastructure spending = job creating.
    d) Puts money into education and alternative energy and research.
    e) Will increase GDP which is the surest way to cut Budget deficits further and without the pain of austerity.
Compare that with Ryan 2 Budget.
    1) Extremely severe austerity measures which all of Europe has proved leads to INCREASED unemployment and lower GDP growth.
    2) Gives tax cuts to the rich again not funded... strange how thier pay for rules dont apply to thier budgets.
    3) The middle class and eldery really get clobbered.
Judge for yourselves, but think, they Republicans, have not moved one iota policy wise and they lost two elections and falsely gained control of the House on a promise to balance the budget and reduce debt... both not true.. but please note the CBO projections of deficits under Obama plan they do reduce.
    Regards,
    Hodgson.

Means testing for medicare and social security. No need to punish folks that worked for 50 years and aren't wealthy because of low wages in this country.

I switched to the "F" word News channel while Obama was announcing his new budget pitch – After 2 minutes listening to Karl Rove, with his white board with the "Rove Math" scribbled all over it – I couldn't take it anymore – had to switch back to CNN – lol – WoW !! I thought they got rid of him after trying to figure out why Ohio went "democrat" – on election nite. LOL – Didn't it take him all evening to figure out that Obama had more "electoral votes" ?? LOL – Oh Well, I guess they don't have anybody with any Itellectual Math capabilities.

You havent created any due to regulations, lousy policy and EPA taransigence and more wasteful spending on green energy! They should call it "greenback energy" because the only thing being used is our tax dollars!

Yet its STILL better than ANYTHING the Republicans have proposed.
So what do you really want, and why are you even here contributing NOTHING to the conversation except "oblabla" "lousy policy" and "regulation". Maybe you want more Exxon censored oil spills across the country or BP spills in the gulf. Neither of which will be cleaned up for decades....
