A pop, a flash and a life forever changed: Giffords' comeback and gun debate

Tucson, Arizona (CNN) – Gabby Giffords remembers facing her assailant at his sentencing.

"Beady eyes," she said of Jared Loughner, who shot the former Arizona congresswoman in the head with a 9mm Glock pistol. Six people died and 13 were injured that day when the deranged gunman opened fire in front of a Tucson supermarket.

"lose sight of the fact that there are over 100 million gunowners and just a small percentage are members of a gun club."

Nobody loses sight of that. FACT: the majority of those gun owners support better regulation of gun ownership and gun transactions and recognize the NRA's idiotic slippery slope arguments and demagoguery about widespread fascist confiscation programs to be the paranoid delusional fantsy-world ramblings that they are.

THAT is why the NRA doesn't have 100M members and THAT is what the polls show about the majority of gun owners' beliefs on this issue. LEARN THIS: The VOLUME of your rantings about your beliefs is not indicative of how widespread or pervasive they are. The NRA is LOUD because their demagoguery is amplified by the MSM intentionally in order to create the appearance of there being two "equal" sides to the "controversy," all so that the idea that there actually is a "controversy" in the first place is strengthened and legitimized and can be more easily sensationalized. Reality: when polls are showing 90% of the public support something, THERE IS NO CONTROVERSY.

A nation held captive by an NRA lobby group and some looney gun owners? Not all gun owners are stupid or unresponsive. The NRA only wants you to think so. If guns don't kill people only people do then time to tighten laws and pass laws that restrict People.!!

have to agree with sniffit on this one – I'm a gun owner- big deal – so what – I'm in favor of stricter gun laws – but good luck with that – The giffords couple lives is forever changed – ( yes, forever) it's sad – but – it may take more school shootings (sadly) to really get any type of real gun law passed ( hate to say )
