(CNN) – Former South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford, who's now running as the Republican nominee in a special congressional election, has been ordered to appear in court two days after the May election over allegations that he trespassed at his ex-wife's home.
Jenny Sanford confirmed a report about court documents she filed claiming she saw her ex-husband leaving her Sullivan's Island home on Feb. 3, roughly three weeks after he announced his bid for Congress.
The Associated Press first reported the court documents.
"I understood [the documents] were to have remained part of the sealed divorce docs. This is a private matter and I have no further comment," she told CNN.
In the documents reported by the AP, Jenny caught Mark leaving her property out of a rear door, using his cell phone as a flash light.
A spokesman with Sanford's campaign declined to comment.
The couple were divorced in 2010 after the then-governor admitted he was carrying on an extramarital affair with a woman from Argentina. He finished out his term in 2011 and has since become engaged to the same woman.
Seeking political redemption, Sanford won the Republican primary this month in a race to fill the 1st District seat left vacant when Gov. Nikki Haley appointed Tim Scott to the Senate late last year.
It's the same district Sanford represented in Congress before becoming governor.
Repeatedly violates court order?
Plus the Oath of office, marriage vows, public trust...
some people are too stupid to be in office
He was looking for the map of the Appalachian trail he left behind.
I guess this means Jenny won't be voting for him.
Great candidate you got there GOP... Sheesh!
What? Did you think this guy was suddenly clean? Ha! He's got a rap sheet a mile long of indiscretions, transgressions, and adultery. Adding trespassing to the list is just more icing his fruit cake.
Republicans. Got to love 'em for trying.

He most likely thought he was on the Appalachian Trail !
Just the right guy we need in DC.
Why did she wait so long to make it public? Why was he there? Didn't she have enough sense to change the locks on the door? All kinds of unanswered questions CNN.
His lack of morals, integrity and trust was broken the minute he revealed his affair. Breaking and entering? I believe he did. A man this arrogant and filled with hubris, piece of cake to break and enter
Sanford is just plain CREEPY!
What a disgrace for the GOP. This guy is a cad and a liar. He's not fit to lead. The GOP claims the moral high ground yet they refuse to make a stand on this. For the Record, I am a Republican.
Looks like the final nail has sealed the coffin of his career.
Earned the right-wing vote with that one – infidelity, illegal use of our taxpayer dollars, not enough to get a Republican vote ... but add Nixonesque felony/misdemenour theft/burglary/home invasion, and Bingo – Fox News and all Republicans have a new hero, someone they WILL vote for.
This is news? Anything to try and slam an (R). What a joke.
Woe to the voters of South Carolina, if they keep giving their seal of approval to this nonsense.
There goes Mark Sanford on the Appalachian Trail again.
Get this guy out of the political arena and on to a reality tv show.
sounds like a stalker
Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, eh Sanford?
Why didn't she file a report for the act of burglary at the time? She could have saved the citizens of the state from a criminal with malicious intentions had she gone public through law enforcement at the time!
Say byebye to your BS campaign, hypocrite.
he forgot his drawers.
Eeeew. Sanford is so gross.
He's lucky she didn't call the cops to have him arrested on the spot.
What a creep.
Once a sleaze,always a sleaze
This guy's embarassement factor, to the Republican Party, is becoming almost as large as Sarah Palin.
The perfect Republican – maybe he thought he was on the Appalachian Trail or was it Argentina? – whatever, the both begin with "A's" And he is one too.
