Boston terror fears raised at Senate immigration hearing

Washington (CNN) - A top Republican senator used the terror bombings in Boston to raise new questions on Friday about a bipartisan comprehensive immigration reform bill, legislation that now faces growing questions from conservative critics.

Democrats shouldn't rush the legislative process "given the events of this week," Iowa's Chuck Grassley said at the opening of a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on the nearly 900-page bill.

absolutely take time and analyze the situation. we have already seen the total disaster that can happen when you jam things through with out thought or even reading the bill. learn the lesson of the obamacare disaster. do not let the left steamroll garbage legislation through and into law.

Let all the facts come out before trying to politicize this tragedy Sen. Grassley.

Look up the meaning of coservative in the dictionary some time. It means to preserve the status quo, and resistance to change. All of which only fosters stagnation, rot and decay. They don't believe in evolution for the simple reason that they don't believe that any should change, and would be destroyed if it did.

Didn't think tea party pubs took time to think or read bills. They just know what's best from birth.

These people were legal citizens. One was 8 years old when he came here. I wonder what we could have asked him at that time that would have lead us to believe that he would place bombs along the Boston Marathon route? BTW – how many Latino terrorists have we had? And what nationality was Timothy McVeigh and Eric Rudolph?

The GOP has no shame. They will use any event to further their unyielding, obstructionist agenda. You cannot stop progress.

    Republicans are so stupid.
Grassley is one of the senators that voted against the gun background check on wednesday. Just maybe this guy would not have had a gun.
You can not have it both ways.

The people from Mexico do NOT come here to KILL Americans period. The people from the Middle-East are taught from childhood to hate & kill all americans ( FACT). The U.S. has a responsibility to stop the Middle-Eastern people from comming here for any reason. This latest bombing in Boston and killing american people is not the way we as americans should be forced to live. The Musulims are nothing more than animals and should never be able to come here for any reason at all anymore. They have vowed to destroy america in any means they can. Doesn't our goverment understand it yet ? They're doing exactly what they have said they were going to do. Wake-Up america !!!

@just sayin: "absolutely take time and analyze the situation. we have already seen the total disaster that can happen when you jam things through with out thought or even reading the bill. learn the lesson of the obamacare disaster. "

The Obamacare bill was posted on the Web for all to read; the reps and Senators who voted on it debated it for a year. The all read it and thought about it plenty.

But you being a Repub, you whine and kick and cry whenever you don't get your way, accusing others of tricking you or hurting you or other such nonsense.

    Grow the eff up!

Grassley and the other GOPers who thwarted the will of the people in not letting gun legislation come to a vote believe that there shouldn't be gun laws because they won't stop criminals.

By that reasoning, we shouldn't have ANY laws because by definition, criminal ignore them.

BTW, here's the definition of "will of the people": A majority of Americans – including a majority of Repubs – want gun control legislation, at least background checks for sales at gun shows and over the Internet. A majority of Senators voted for bringing the bill to the floor for a vote (56 to 44).

But because the GOP cares more about the paranoia and greed of the NRA, the Repub Senators invoked rules that require a Senate super-majority (60) for legislation to come to the floor.

Remember this come 2014, folks – and send the GOP Senators and Reps PACKING!

You address Grassley and his followers as if they can or actually even care to THINK.

Let's see – when it comes to guns we shouldn't jump to conclusions and have any gun controls because thousands of gun deaths occur each year, including little children. But here's the same people thinking we should rethink immigration because of 2 – 3 people who have been in this year for a decade planned an attack. How does he justify his reasoning other than a pocket full of cash from the NRA?

nancy pelosi.... we have to pass the bill so you can see what is in it.

2400 pages that has spawned over 17,000 pages of regulations that nobody read and nobody understands even today, including the obama adminstration, who can't even implement most of the stuff because it doesn't work.

now even democrats want to repeal parts of it.

Tell Marco Rubio its garbage. Truth is that the Right does not want anything to happen, except to have more cheap labor for the Chamber of Commerce and a group they can always demonize. At least they want to pass something, rather than simply collect their paychecks and lobbying money.
