Obama says capture closes key chapter in bombing tragedy

(CNN) – President Barack Obama said at the conclusion of the Boston Marathon bombing manhunt on Friday night that "we've closed an important chapter in this tragedy," adding that those who carried out the "vicious attack" failed because Americans "refuse to be terrorized."

Speaking at the White House, Obama praised the work of law enforcement after they captured the second of two suspects following a daylong search, and pledged continued federal law enforcement, homeland security and intelligence resources to the ongoing investigation.

Obama maintained "whatever hateful agenda" may have been behind the attack that killed three people and injured 180 others on Monday in two blasts near the finish line of the storied road race "will not and cannot prevail."

The president said there remained many unanswered questions and cautioned against jumping to conclusions as the investigation continues.

He urged people not to "rush to judgment" about motivations or entire groups.

Obama expressed gratitude for local, state and federal law enforcement efforts and praised the city and the nation in the face of an attack being investigated as a terrorist act. He noted that it did not ultimately succeed.

"They failed because the people of Boston refused to be intimidated," Obama said. "They failed because as Americans, we refuse to be terrorized."

An Obama administration official said the president heard that suspect Dzhokar Tsarnaev, 19, had been taken into custody just outside Boston in Watertown from staff and media reports. FBI Director Mueller called him to brief on details, the official said.

The other suspect, a man identified as his brother, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, 26, died early on Friday following a shootout with police, officials said.

Obama says capture closes key chapter in bombing tragedy – and it opens the chapter where the taxpayers get really screwed. The terrorist now has more "rights" than the victims and also has a lot of "needs" that we will have to pay for. But we are so civilized – tell that to the dead people, I am sure it will make them feel a lot better.

Yes, Mr. President, we refuse to be terrorized...because we are armed, as our constitution allows.

No miranda rights? We should not allow our fear to be manipulated into self righteously allowing the abrogation of our due process.

President Obama, I have major problems with you so called words of comfort. America cannot be terrorized? Are you kidding? As a people and society, we are the most unsettled in the world. Easily intimidated and influenced. Your words of we will not be terrorized are not comforting. Do something to protect this country, our borders, the people from outsiders. Instead of letting in this wave of immigrants, lets be realistic and be VERY selective on who we let in. Don't threaten 2nd amendment rights, this is a means of self protection. Actually protect our rights over seas, like Bhenghazi. Of all Presidents, I have the least trust and faith in your intentions and your loyalty to this country and people. DO SOMETHING worthy of earning trust for every American.

Wow! Obama used "terrorized". Guessing he will be assuming credit for the capture. Like the time he landed that helicopter in Pakistan and entered Bin Laden's compound bring about his demise.

I love how Obama made a policial statement "We should not rush to judgement" about immigrants to the United States. Believe me when I tell you, these terrorist and drug runners that we are just allowing to waltz into this country will start doing the same thing they do in Mexico. We are already seeing it. I will judge the government, and they have done a poor job at stopping illegal immigration. I know these guys came here legally, but who was watching them?

OBAMA: "We refuse to be terrorized." Except by decent American citizens who own a firearm.

Yes mr. Obama refuse to let terrorists terrorise Americans but he helpe them terrorise the Syrian people by funding and arming AL nusra, the ALqaeda wing in Syria and their allies. Kerry is in currently in Turkey to take part in the "friends of Syrian terror" and increase the US assistance to Al qaeda syrian chapter. Good job America!, keep it up until terror hit home again.

CNN was broadcasting the most prurient and exploitative of terror porn. The news giant's mission wasn't illumination or information so much as merely seeking to somehow hold our interest in the tragedy.

CNN and its ilk on the upper channels of the cable box are like pornographers in Caligula's court.

Why is the camera-hog-in-chief being given so much face time on TV? It's attaching way to much importance to these losers.

This crisis was managed masterfully – from the President, FBI, State Police, Local Police, National Guard, Homeland Security specialists, and down to the local citizens of Boston. This is how governments and citizens are supposed to pull together. Great job!

I am sure Barak Hussein Obama wants to close this "chapter" as quickly as he can.

I, for one, do not care what Barak Hussein Obama has to say. To me, each time he opens his mouth he sounds like a puppet wound up to spurt out preprogrammed words. God take mercy on him if his tele-prompter malfunctions.

Barak Hussein Obama's lefty pals are already blaming our nation for the Boston bombings. No surprise here.

I doubt Erik Holder will delve into reasons why the FBI did not take Russia's warnings about these terrorists seriously because a real investigation will again reveal the incompetence of the Obama administration, just as Bengazi murders revealed it. Where is Susan Rice when Barak Hussein Obama needs him.
