Source: GOP congressmen want answers on Boston suspect's 2011 questioning

(CNN) - Two key Republicans on the House Homeland Security Committee will press the Obama administration about the questioning of Boston bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev 2011, according to a GOP congressional source.

The FBI investigated Tsarnaev, who died this week after a late-night shoot-out with police, at the request of Russian authorities, according to a senior U.S. official. Tsarnaev and his younger brother Dzhokar, who was taken into custody a day after his brother's death, are originally from the Caucasus region and immigrated to the United States in the 2000s.

Reps. Mike McCaul of Texas, the committee's chairman, and Peter King of New York, the former committee chairman, are preparing a letter to Director Robert Mueller and Attorney General Eric Holder seeking details about that questioning, the GOP congressional source said.

The two view the move not as politically motivated but as part of their oversight responsibility, according to the source.

A Democratic source familiar with the matter said Democrats were inclined to let the FBI do its job investigating the Boston bombing and ask questions later.

Leave it to Republicans to politicize everything. The collective IQ of the REpublicans in Congress is dull normal. The arrogance factor is off the charts.

What happened in Boston should never be repeated again and to have an honest discussion will be the first step of solving the terrorists problem. How about you start questioning those who makes security products and at the same time sits in antiterrorism board as strategists with offices in Boston? But you can't do that because they are your major donors therefore, they own the system.

Seriously! When will these guys knock it off. There is absolutely nothing to glean from the FBI investigation.

Republicans never, ever do anything without a selfish political motive. Looking back over the last 4-5 years I can't think of a single act by Republicans in the Congress that wasn't either motivated by efforts to create some ridiculous conspiracy or satisfy some political lobby. They did nothing to help anybody except their rich, white, bigoted fat-cats.

They particularly hate it when the President handles a crisis with wisdom and maturity – as he always does. His rating go up and their sleazy efforts to distort the truth or outright lie goes into high-gear.

That didn't take long. They can't allow the lightning quick capture of the two terrorists appear to be a success by the Obama administration. They don't have the common decency to allow the law enforcement officials to complete their investigations. Way to overplay your hand GOP and politicize this event. God forbid, if the democrats did the same after 9/11, all the rwnj's would be crying how unpatriotic the dems were, hypocrisy at its best.

I guess it shocks me that it took this long for one of these clowns to pipe up. It is very humorous to me how silly this is getting between the parties.I can hear the conversation now. "Mike, you haven't made a fool of yourself attacking the administration. It is your turn, make the party proud" lol

Yes, later... as in never. Just like all the questions they asked about the Benghazi fiasco. Democrats only have one interest here as they did with Benghazi, ignore it and bury it and make it go away. They don't want to expose the incompetence of the Obama administration and especially Eric Holder.

To all Congressional leaders: Remember you have powers to change some things, like the oath to citizenship. These two swore the following:I hereby declare, on oath, that I absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state, or sovereignty of whom or which I have heretofore been a subject or citizen; that I will support and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States of America against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I will bear arms on behalf of the United States when required by the law; that I will perform noncombatant service in the Armed Forces of the United States when required by the law; that I will perform work of national importance under civilian direction when required by the law; and that I take this obligation freely without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion. WHAT ARE THE CONSEQUENCES OF VIOLATION OF THIS OATH? NONE!!! Look, it is simple, he violated his oath of citizenship, so the consequence is to take it away and therefore he can be tried without Miranda, and for all Federal and State crimes punishable by death. I actually hope he does not make it unless he give information we need to track down all involved or all who seek to destroy the fabric of this nation, its people. Change the oath and consequences for violation ASAP!

BUSH had a full report on Bin Laden using planes to attack major U.S. cities.... over 3000 people died.
NO ONE ever brought to justice.
Republicans praise Bush's "Mission Accomplished" and burn Dixie Chics albums because the group criticized BUSH.

Obama... 4 die in Benghazi (spontaneous acts of violence in known violent region)
and 4 die in Boston (FBI, NOT White House, warned by Russia)
BinLaden killed, hundreds of Al Queada droned, both Boston terrorists killed or captured.
Republicans indirectly hold Obama responsible, and give no credit for any of the solutions.

Republican politics at its finest. A.S.S BACKWARDS.

Am at a loss on what to believe here. Is it the hostile decorative pattern in caption of this topic or the actual posturings of these GOPs that makes the demand sounds sinister. What the Congressmen need to do should have been simply call for the details of the 2011 Tamrlan Tsarnaev questionings. Period. Not to project vindictiveness in their actions. They should be taught the Art of Diplomacy.

I was sure, no matter how the tragic event in Boston ended, the Republicans will find a way to blame Obama and his administration for it. Was the 9/11 and the world trade center bombing his fault also?

Never let a tragedy pass without trying to score cheap political points, right GOP? Unless of course the tragedy happens when there's a Republican president...

The GOP should quit trying to going after Eric Holder, Janet Nappolitano, et al when the biggest intelligence omission in history took place on 9/11. Homeland Security has been warning for some time of potential lone wolf attacks from radicalized Americans. Quit trying to score points out of tragedy.

Lawmakers need to stay out of it and let the things get done that need done for now – they can place their "political" blame later – funny how they'll act quickly if they see it gains them a few votes, but can't do the job they should be doing
