(CNN) - Conan O’Brien and President Barack Obama may have had the political crowd in high spirits at Saturday’s White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner, but in Alaska, Sarah Palin wasn’t laughing.
“Yuk it up media and pols,” the former Alaska governor wrote on her Facebook page. “While America is buried in taxes and a fight for our rights, the permanent political class in DC dresses up and has a prom to make fun of themselves. No need for that, we get the real joke.”
On Twitter she was even more barbed.
“That #WHCA was pathetic. The rest of America is out there working our asses off while these DC assclowns throw themselves a #nerdprom,” she wrote.
While this year’s dinner may have rubbed Palin the wrong way, she’s shown a little more love for the annual event in the past. In 2011, she attended an afterparty sponsored by Vanity Fair and Bloomberg News, held at the home of the French ambassador in Washington.
But she’s never attended the event, and has long mocked what she calls the “lamestream media” for an overly cozy relationship with the political establishment.
Palin.... That says it all.
Palin is hardly a good judge of pathetic.
Why does the media pay ANY attention to what this hateful numbskull says? She never has ANYTHING constructive to say... all she does is toss out jr. high grade insults towards anyone she doesn't like and the GOP are immature enough to applaud her for it.
During every presidency, there have been catastrophes great and on a smaller scale (hurricanes, tsunamis, earthquakes, assassinations, etc. both home and abroad). Americans have always been quick to respond with aid.
During many (most) presidencies, there have been wars and global conflict that Americans have been involved in (sometime for bette, sometimes for worse, but mostly for better).
During every presidency, those who disagree with the 'person in power' have been free to criticize them in the press, on street corners, in assemblies, and in the digital age, online (without fear of persecution as people in a dictatorial regime will tell you).
One night a year, a president and the press get to sit down, chill out, laugh at themselves (and at each other) and money raised from the event goes toward grants for the journalists of tomorrow. Obama doesn't care if they're Republican, no more than the Bushes cared if they were Democrats).
Sarah Palin, a witless none-too-bright politician who can't appreciate cleverness, irony or self-deprecating humor and who's sole platform is to scream out "Jobs! Deficit! Socialism! Immigration! Health Care! Gun Control! Abortion! Family Values!" etc etc etc without ever having to actually formulate any sort of long-or-short-term plan to actually deal with and perhaps improve these issues or guarantee Americans a better quality of life simply plays into the hands of the poor and pissed off 'average Joes' who are finding it hard to make ends meet (just as their forbears did under every single presidency in the past).
She had a sh*t-ton of lawsuits filed against her as Governor of Alaska. She was on a 'reality show' (cancelled). She had her own 'opinion show' on Fox (cancelled). Her daughter was on Dancing With The Stars. She had her own reality show (cancelled). Her (almost) son-in-law gave her a grandchild, told bad things about her and her family to the press, and posed for Playgirl.
And SHE judges a night of levity in a press/celebrity/political evening of 'let's forget our cares for a couple of hours and have a laugh'?
"I can see Russia from my porch!"
If pigs could fly, and eggplants could think,...then..........then...........ahhhhh, then.........hmmmmm, what was this story about?
If an extraterrestrial multi-celled bacterium farted on the moon Titan, it would have as much relevance as......
Poor baby! It hurts to not be invited doesn't it. But you should know that people with character and class don't pout and whine and let their sour grapes show in such an immature way.
What is this "our" business. Palin has never worked a day in her life—as many Alaskans can attest—and if she ever had, you may be assured it would have been for her usual self-serving purposes. If she's so concerned with "assclowns," perhaps she should start with the one staring back at her out of the mirror....
? I don't know why Palin keeps getting media coverage. We want intelligent political discourse. This sounds like a 12 year ranting via social media. Seriously, if she were in office, would she attend the correspondents dinner? I'm sure she would.
Who cares what she thinks...
The "Lame-Street Media" needs to stop paying attention to the former "Half-Governor".
She should know goofs when she sees them. She hangs out with guys like Glenn Beck that dress in tri-cornered hats and 18th century garb. Stephen Colbert called her honey boo boo. I wish she would go away.
What's that annoying buzz in my ear?
I guessing, according to Ms. Palin, spending time on her reality TV series is working her ass off. Assclown.
I can't believe the media still prints anything that comes out of this woman's empty skull!
Jeeesh....lighten up, lady. Somebody needs to tell her that she's coming off like that angry high school girl who didn't get invited to the popular kids' party.
When would you grow up ?
America is buried in taxes? Taxes are at historical lows, and have been since Bush43's tax cuts for his rich friends.
This is no more then typical GOP rhetoric based on lies and misinformation.
Hey... If you ever want to sit in The Big Chair, Sarah P., it is a one day indignity you will have to learn to at least fake smiles and laughter.
The combination of ignorance and arrogance of today's Republicans is once again made public by Sarah Palin.
So, not only does this mentally absent woman have little respect for the office of the President, but she also degrades and belittles a great American tradition of allowing our President to show his humor. Is that what I just read? Christ lady...please go home!
hope she never gets invited
Sounds like someone didn't have a good high school prom experience...
As long as Palin stays in the big cold state, the USA should do OK. It's the threat of her getting down to the lower 48 is what should worry us. Her sole contribution in national politics has been keeping John McCain in the Senate as he would have likely won if she had not been on the GOP ticket, a rather negative contribution in many minds.
Poor little boo-boo. Did she try thinking again? I yuck it up any and every chance I get! Gladly!
