LaPierre: 'How many Bostonians wish they had a gun two weeks ago?'

(CNN) - While investigators focus on developments leading up to the Boston Marathon bombing, gun rights advocates zeroed in on the tense days after the deadly attack and the frantic manhunt for one of the suspects.

National Rifle Association Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre said residents were "imprisoned" in their homes with no means to protect themselves while police searched for Dzhokhar Tsarnaev.

His capture four days after the April 15 bombing was preceded by a wild Boston-area gun battle and chase during which his older brother and second suspect, Tamerlan, was killed.

A subsequent law enforcement dragnet paralyzed the city and close-in suburbs as the hunt for the surviving Tsarnev, considered armed and extremely dangerous, intensified and residents were warned to stay indoors.

"How many Bostonians wished they had a gun two weeks ago?" LaPierre asked in a speech at the NRA's convention in Houston Saturday.

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was captured hiding in a boat in Watertown, Massachusetts.

"Boston proves it. When brave law enforcement officers did their job in that city so courageously, good guys with guns stopped terrorists with guns," he said.

The NRA is fighting efforts in Congress to expand background checks and pass other gun control measures prompted by the Newtown school massacre last December.

And how many people did the suspect hurt, zero because law enforcement did their job. By the way Wayne, how many do you know with a concealed carry permit get robbed on a daily basis? Your concealed gun means nothing when the criminal gets the drop on you. Ask that young father of 5 who was stabbed and then murdered by his own gun in Israel. These NRA members who place their trust in a gun who never had bullets flying at them will wet their pants in a real life situation just like they did when they were bullied. They think that a piece of metal can give them the power and courage that they never possessed.

This gun monger is a nut. People in Boston were ordered to stay in doors. Even if each and every individual had a gun, it was totally useless because they could not have used them to shoot anyone. Does he think guns are babies? That had time in Boston people held their kids tightly and not guns.

LaPierre needs to sit down and shut the hell up. He's the biggest wacko of the whole bunch. Nobody is talking about outlawing all weapons but to listen to this clown the Nazi's are coming and the sky is falling!!!

The only innocent person who was killed with a gun had a gun. LaPierre is an evil man who represents all that is broken with our radical right-wing. They live in a fearful, fantasy world of hate and bigotry. Every voter needs to remember the poloticians who caved-in to this low-life and throw them out in 2014 & 2016.

Folks, all Wayne LaPierre cares about is keeping his nice high salary as a shill for the gun manufacturers. He doesn't give a rat's patoot about the people of Boston. Or any other people who aren't paying him. As a bonus, he's bat crap crazy....

Dummy- a city under lockdown because of bomb-throwing terrorists, and La Pierre wants people to wave guns around- and just how would police and FBI determine who is a terrorist, and who is the so-called "good guy with a gun"? Idiot.

La Pierre is what is wrong with the pro-gun movement. He'll ultimately be responsible for the end of gun-owners rights in America because of his irresponsible demands, over-the-top, overheated rhetoric and the anti-American "guns to battle tyranny crap.

Responsible gun owners: if America EVER takes your guns it will because of the NRA and their support of gun rights for criminals and terrorists.

    "imprisoned" in their homes

LaPierre has lost his grip and the entire NRA is tumbling down right with him.
s he really trying to say that he would rather have had all of Boston walking through the streets with the police looking for the suspects.

Has LaPierre sat with the families of victims that have lost loved ones from guns?

Has he ever been a victim of home invasion?

    No, of course not.

Its a matter of time...the NRA is an anachronism.

How does he know "Bostonians" don't have guns. He doesn't.
Anyone who wanted to leave their home, could have. Residents were "warned to stay indoors". It was not
The "good guys" with guns happened to be law enforcement people, the very people your Republican
    "speakers" want to cut back.
Does this idiot get a bonus check from the manufacturers for every stupid thing he says?

    @Gun Rights

    I would have wanted one
You could have owned one. You could have put on your "tactical" gear, filled up extra magazines, and spent two days fondly stroking the long, hard, barrel of your gun. You could have taken photos of yourself as the "good guy with the gun"... the big gun... with long barrel...

Then after the police handled the problem with maturity, training, skill and coordination you could have strutted around the house feeling good about yourself... and your gun... your really big gun...
