In spoof video, Christie pokes fun of fleece, 2016

(CNN) - When Chris Christie loses his famous fleece in a new parody video, it takes him on a journey that crosses paths with Alec Baldwin, Jon Bon Jovi, and James Carville–just to name a few–and takes a tongue-in-cheek look at his potential 2016 aspirations.

The outspoken New Jersey governor starred in the seven-minute long video put together for the New Jersey Legislative Correspondents' Dinner Tuesday night.

It pokes fun of everything from Christie's appearances on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" to his lieutenant governor Kim Guadagno to a speculated potential White House showdown between Christie and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

The spoof starts out with the Republican talking to an aide about potentially buying an injured giraffe "on sale" from the National Zoo as a way to please certain constituents.

"I know how much you hate getting press coverage in D.C.," his aide says. "But this will really help us back home in New Jersey with the animal lover crowd."

Questioning the move, Christie ponders whether it could work. "Or is it just going to be another thing that's just going to annoy the base," he quietly asks himself, in a nod to 2016. "I don't know. What should I do?"

"Stay focused on New Jersey, gov. This is all about New Jersey," the aide says.

Another aide suddenly walks in to announce that Christie's dark fleece, a garment he frequently wore while surveying the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy, was missing from its glass case.

Trying to brush it off, Christie argues it's not a big deal.

"The fleece was so last year. Think about it: I'm back in the Time "100 Most Influential People" in the world. Bruce (Springsteen) is my new best friend. I'm friends with Bon Jovi. And now I'm back on 'Morning Joe.' You know that's going to be a love fest," he said. "Stop worrying so much."

The next few minutes of the plot reveal the bad luck of his missing fleece. Christie realizes he's not as tight with The Boss as he thought, and people no longer recognize him without the beloved pullover. Even the stars of "Morning Joe" seem less enthralled with the governor.

Out of desperation, Christie begins making calls. He "dials up" New York Jets Coach Rex Ryan, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Sen. Marco Rubio, U2 star Bono, and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

In a separate clip, Democratic strategist and Hillary Clinton supporter James Carville answers the phone, saying he hasn't seen the fleece but promises to keep an eye out.

Carville hangs up and makes a call, warning a woman on the other end of the line that Christie was looking for the fleece. "No, I'm not going to say nothing. I just played dumb," he says.

The next scene shows a famous photo of Hillary Clinton when she was secretary of state, sitting in a chair with sunglasses as she looks at her smartphone. Text comes on the screen saying, "AB, Its Hil. Did I leave my fleece with you guys?"

The video ends with Alec Baldwin standing on a New York sidewalk, realizing his wife had the fleece the whole time.

2016 pundits love to speculate a potential showdown between Christie and Clinton in 2016. But a new poll released Wednesday indicates that while Christie is popular among New Jersey voters, they don't so much favor the idea of him running for president.

Fifty-five percent of registered voters in the state say they don't want him to make a White House bid, including half of Republicans, according to the NBC/Marist poll. And in a hypothetical presidential matchup against Clinton in his home state, the former secretary of state fares better, 52% to 41%, according to the poll.

The video was clearly filmed before news broke Tuesday that the governor, who's up for re-election this year, had undergone weight loss surgery in February.

It's all about his health now. Why didn't he see the light when the state paid for his helicopter trip to his son's soccer game and a limo ride of about 100 yards because he would have never been able to walk that far? Probably stil can't at a quick pace.
He might have done good after Hurricane Sandy for his state but he has a lot od garbage and I don't think we need a president who is so confrontational when asked any question. We have enoug problems with other countries trying to be civilized.
