Extra IRS scrutiny on conservative applications shows 'corruption,' Palin says

(CNN) - Sarah Palin said the Internal Revenue Service's recent scrutiny of conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status is a sign of "corruption at the heart of big government" in Washington.

"So many Americans knew this was happening, but many felt defenseless and even helpless against a government that seems to roll along without accountability or sense of obligation to the people it's supposed to serve. These Americans were mocked for being concerned about this, but now we see light shining on the truth, finally," she wrote in an online posting shortly after the IRS acknowledged it made "mistakes" in handling the applications of tea party groups.

Lois Lerner, director of tax exempt organizations for the IRS, said 75 applications were singled out between 2010 and 2012 for extended review because the words "tea party" and "patriot" were included in the groups' names. Those applications were part of approximately 300 which received additional scrutiny during that time.

"Americans should remember that this same corrupt IRS will be in charge of enforcing Obamacare," she wrote. "And this same inept and corrupt government will supposedly secure our now unsecured borders in advance of immigration reform and will implement a completely ethical and non-political IPAB panel to make life and death health care decisions for you and your family. Forgive me for not trusting these big government promises any more than I trust the White House's latest Benghazi spin or the IRS' fairness."

Palin, the 2008 Republican vice presidential candidate, further wrote, "I'm sure President Obama is grateful for all the help the IRS gave his reelection campaign, but, still, you have to wonder how the bureaucrats who tried to pull this off can sleep at night."

She called for "accountability and a full investigation" as well as a special committee to look into the Benghazi, Libya, attack last September.

And this from someone who puts 19 peoples names and pictures on the internet with cross hairs on them and then when 6 are murdered and 13 wounded crawls away and says OOPS. And then her running mate – John McCain says it is her 1st amm. right to put that on the internet. Remember when she posted and denied she had had breast surgery – that was because some late night comic had called her a boob. Why do people listen to her.

Palin once said there was no corruption in the Veterans Administration. She said they cleaned it up.

Wrong dog! My neighbor joined the military in January! But he had already served 3 years, got out due to injuries and was collecting over $2,500 a month in disabilities and had collected over $40,000 in rehabilitation and "more".

The VA Director said it was isolated. The VA director is a criminal. He knew it was not isolated and lied. The VA can't even make a guess at how many of these types of VA fraud is going on. They won't even investigate all reported fraud. Depends on where it comes from and who was involved. That is a fact. It happened in Tucson, AZ. The VA director knew of the fraud and refused to let the OIG investigate. That is a fact.

How does Palin figure that one out?

If the "non-profits" were associated with Muslims, would it be "harrassment" to give those groups special scrutiny and make sure they're using money for religious purposes only? Just because a group says it is "patriotic" doesn't mean it's using its funds for the purposes legally exempt from taxation. And BTW, every little community or civic group that applies for a non-profit IRS status has go through a whole lot of red tape to get that status. I've been involved in a couple of those. So the Tea Partiers need to stop whining that they are special "victims."

Sarah Palin and her family bilked the state of Alaska out of thousands of dollars by unnecessarily racking up hotel, food, and travel bills. There's plenty of other ill deeds by Palin since she's been a politician, but that's just the one I remember because she's such a hideous soul I don't like reading too much about her when I can help it. Now she's of course being hypocritical (a requirement for Republican politicians) by saying the IRS is "corrupt". Well I know CNN's staff isn't in the business of journalism, so they won't call her out for it, but anyone who knows right from wrong should know Sarah Palin is the least credible person to claim someone else is corrupt.

Ms. Palin can be reasonably and fairly described as ultra-narcissistic, functionally illiterate, poison tongued, woefully disconnected, and overall angry person.

What she spews from her oral orifice is rarely – if ever – factual. She walks the line of the ultra-Right Wing extremist faction of our country. She's sold her soul for the riches that have intoxicated her mind and spirit.

How pitiful can one person be. Failed as a mother, failed as a public servant, failed as a politician, failed as a public speaker, failed as a TV celebrity. The country – perhaps the entire world – would be far better off if she once and for all disappeared. Sadly, that is not likely to happen. As long as she can hold onto the deluded, angry followers she seeks to incite, Ms. Palin will be around.

    More's the pity ! ! !

The VA was the most corrupt under the Bush Administration.

The VA Director still won't allow certain investigations depending on who was involved and at what level. Fact.

You have to admit there have been groups within the tea party who have been behaving more like terrorists than political activists. I'm not saying there are terrorists in the tea party but there have been some disturbing actions by some who call themselves the tea party.

And this same inept and corrupt government will supposedly tell our mothers and daughters what they can do with their bodies, and force them to bear children without their consent if Roe v. Wade is ever overturned. It works both ways, guys.
