Washington (CNN) - The nation's top tax collector resigned Wednesday amid controversy over Internal Revenue Service targeting of conservative groups that applied for federal tax-exempt status.
The official, acting IRS Commissioner Steven Miller, was aware employees were targeting conservative groups in May 2012, according to the agency.
People need to go to jail not just lose their jobs. This guy was going to retire in a couple of months anyway.
May I assume this story will be filled out a bit later? In any case, what's with the scare-quotes around "Angry"? Either he was, or he wasn't. If you don't know for certain, then leave off the adjective.
My question is this – why are we giving all these handouts to these groups to begin with?
Why does any political, or non-profit group, need all this tax-exempt status?
Politicians make money, that is why they want government positions. CEO's make money. Churches and religious groups depend on tithes and gifts. All these groups get what they want – but it is because of us hardworking people, you know, the ones that DO PAY TAXES!
Enough with all this tax-exempt status. We need to have a complete overhaul of the IRS, and the tax laws.
it doesn't matter who leaves or is fired. The GOP will not let up until Obama leaves office. Since that won't happen, the tightie righties will continue their faux outrage (of course they said NOTHING when liberal groups were reviewed) until doomsday because they have nothing better to do
Ahhh the faux anger. Anger at getting caught. Democrats are soooo toasted. 2014 will be 2010 repeat or worse for them.
Excellent job, keep on firing them they might finally get it!! and please, don't stop there go a step further and simplify the tax code or introduce flat tax rate and we wont need IRS any more.
